Hi I would like to ask anyone from here if you know of or you are personally one of the few who have succeeded in getting a CA LVN license after studying in the Philippines. You may have applied directly at CA or may have diverted first in WV before the reciprocity process. Please enlighten us.

All the Filipino nurses I've met who became LVNs in CA were people who were working on getting their RN license.
did they study LVN in the philippines and now working as lvn in CA?

Previous poster is correct. There are a lot of LVN's from the Philippines, but they already had their BSN from there. Why they chose to get their LVN license is beyond me. I haven't heard of anybody attemtping to do their LVN in the Philippines and then trying to come back to California and either endorse in from another state, or just apply for NCLEX through California.
It don't see how one can get educated as a LVN in a country where it's not even recognized. To me, that would be a red flag right there when choosing a school. If you don't have your LVN, and that's the route you want to go, then do it in the US where it is recognized that way there are no complications. If you want to get your RN then make sure you choose a reputable school no matter where you do your nursing degree at. Good Luck

Many Philippine-educated nurses who finished the BSN course in the Philippines take both the American LVN and RN licensure examinations. Not many pass the more difficult RN-NCLEX right away, and since the LVN-NCLEX is easier to pass, many Philippine-educated nurses choose to work as LVNs first until they pass the RN-NCLEX. Others work only as LVNs throughout their entire nursing career.
Those who studied the LVN course in the Philippines, where the government doesn't even officially recognize the course, may be in for a shock of their lives when they try to submit applications to take the LVN-NCLEX here in the U.S.A. What can you show or what papers can you submit to BONs here in the U.S.A. when the course you took is not officially recognized by the country where you took the course? I admit I'm not an expert on this subject matter and this is only an educated guess as a Philippine-educated RN working here in California for the past 29 years.
My advice to anyone contemplating to study the LVN course in the Philippines is...don't.
I read previously on this site that the LPN schools in the Philippines that are cropping up are taking advantage of Filipino nursing students who may not be aware that other countries require the BSN. Filipino nurses who work as LVNs in the US usually do so only until they are able to pass the NCLEX RN. I worked with one old timer who had taken the NCLEX RN several times. Perhaps in the past the LVN test was easier, but my contemporaries who took both, all agreed that it was the other way around. I think it is happenstance that many Filipino nurses are able to pass the LVN test but take a little longer to pass the RN test. And those who remain LVNs here are just happy to remain LVNs for their personal reasons. I can see that point of view also. Some have told me that they were satisfied with the salaries they were earning and did not especially want the supervisory responsibilities that come with the RN license.

What is the deal with getting an LPN in WV and then endorsing to CA from the Philippines? Are you just moving or is there something floating out there that it's a good idea?
My friend said that CA is one of the more strict states on foreign transcripts in the LVN/PN field.
I believe you just proved the point of many of the posters on here. If a school is telling you how to secretly circumvent the process, something is WRONG! No credible school would EVER tell someone how to "get around" the law of a state board. NONE
Thats the problem with some of the schools over there and why they are being scrutinized, they do not adhere to the laws of the programs in the states.

hi...i studied nursing in the Philippines but wasn't able to finish it because i had to move in the US. i only had 1 sem to go before i finish the program. i sent all my requirements to the board and they made me eligible to take the nclex for LVN. so m reviewing right now...and hopefully i'll pass. :)
by the way i studied BSN in the philippines..not LVN thanks
See if an instutition here will allow you to do the RN (ADN or BSN) as an advance placement student so you can get your RN. Good Luck
More than likely, you did get right through having a BSN from the philippines for the Lvn however, those with LPN diplomas from the Philippines have a lot more documentation they have to obtain per my friend.
