Anyone a student at Pacific College in Costa Mesa?

Updated:   Published

Hi everyone,

I just joined this website and think it is wonderful.

I just signed up for the LVN program at Pacific College in Costa Mesa. The class starts at the end of March. Are there any grads or current students from Pacific out there? I was just wondering what you thought of the program.

Please let me know.

Thanks so much,

pacific college is a shool for nurses.. not for people who wanna be a nurse but don't really know what it means. stop hating on pacific,if you cant pass a test go to stanbridge in irvine thats where all the kick outs of pacific go. I suggest work in a nursing home or any healthcare facility so you all haters can see and feel how it is to be a nurse..being a nurse is a callin.. its not because your friend or all your family are in nursing field..I recommend pacific college..its a hard school to go to but its a good one..go to pacific colleg just read your the chapters over and over and over..

If Pacific College is the best "shool" aka school (as you call it) haha! in Orange County, I would hate to see the worst! I believe the CORRECT saying is "you learn from your mistakes and you move on" minus the dude part.

However it appears some major mistakes are being made by the school thus causing significant consequences which are accentuating a negative experience overall. Everyone is mentioning the same things such as testing procedures, ever-changing school policies, unprofessional teachers, discord among peers, uncaring administration not addressing the needs of the students as well as disorganization to mention a few. This school clearly has a bad reputation among its current and prior students as noted by most of the posts on this site and others. If they keep it up, one day the school will be nothing but an abandoned building with empty classrooms and a dusty lobby.

FYI, ROP has the best nursing program in the county demonstrated by their continuious 100% pass rates on the Board of Vocational Nursing site which states factual information year by year. Stanbridge College which is a newer school seems to be a better choice and is an excellent nursing school with competent teachers who usually, if not always have a Bachelor's Degree in teaching and a seemingly intelligent, respectful caliber of students. They have a beautiful high tech campus with a very supportive enviornment and happy :) students (((that speaks volumes))). I'm sure many unhappy students who attended Pacific College would have chosen Stanbridge College first if they had known about it. Concorde's pass rates are higher than Pacific College which is why they get better training facilities for clinicals. I do not know much about the other vocational nursing schools in Orange County but I am sure they all have their faults. Lets just hope it is not at the expense of the students and their futures.

Stanbridge may be high tech but it does not have the pass history of some of the private schools in OC....sure its nice to wave a new computer around but the politics there is so bad the instructors would rather go somewhere else for much less pay than deal with the stuff.

:yeah:Good job rudder....did the school pay you in order to get more business....won't happen....everyone in OC and LA counties know about that school....there are a lot of better choices out there now....schools that have good pass rates PLUS advocate for their students.

i carefully and methodically selected a college to work at in the orange county area. i have had years of experience in various capacities at medical colleges. i am very experienced and could virtually select any school to be associated with. i chose pacific college due to the hard cold facts about the success rates of their students, the quality of their instruction and the pass rates of their students. i drive a long distance in order to work in an environment that is positive and encouraging and offers wonderful careers to their students.

beware of some of these ridiculous posters on this website. some of their comments are just absolutely untrue. i ask that you use your own good judgment in selecting a school that has not only full accreditation but one that puts the student's education first. i am not saying this as an employee of pacific college but as someone that is shocked at the misrepresentations some of these posters have made. it is shocking that some unknown person could affect other people's career choices.

if you apply yourself, work hard, show up for classes and have the right attitude, you will succeed. if you spend most of your time complaining about things that do not affect your education, then i do feel sorry for you and perhaps you should select another facility because you will not last at pacific college. we flush our toilets!

the instructors all are with advanced degrees, many are doctors. classes are small by comparison and offer a fast track to your graduation in less than one year. compare!! we are not waving a lap top and a blackberry in your face as an incentive to enroll. it is our firm desire for you to become a contributing force in the medical fields, we are offering you quality education in a facility that has been in continuous operation since 1993 and is fully licensed and accredited.

we are offering you the chance to change your future in such an honorable profession, not spend your time complaining about nonsense and influencing others not to use their own good judgment and compare schools.

do not let some idiot with a lot of time on their hands that did not succeed to affect your success. remember, your past does not equal your future! i would proudly recommend pacific college to anyone interested in a quality education from a school that has an impeccable reputation. facts and figures don't lie but some of these posters surely have!

I am an LVN that is currently enrolled in a BSN program. I showed this post to my instructors who told me that ethical instructors would not be posting comments into a nursing student blog. In addition, my instructors told me that the so called "instructor" is more likely to be part of this sad college's administration. My instructor also said that you can NOT look at the LVN NCLEX pass rates posted by the Board of Nursing and take them as gospel for a number of reasons. A school could graduate "1" student, or as in the case of this poor school, a final class of "6". This student could take and pass the NCLEX and the pass rate will show 100% for 1 student. When looking at schools ask how many students graduated that term, ask how many students took the boards and how many passed. If as previous blogs show, extremely limited numbers take the boards, that is a real concern. The RN Boards list the school, the number taking the test (usually in hundreds) and the pass rate. The LVN Boards do not list the number of students taking the test. This poor program could graduate just 1 or 2 yet boast a pass rate of 100%. This is not a true reflection on the school. Choose schools carefully. You will be paying for a long long time.

No negatives here. I graduated from Pacific College and passed the State Board Exam the first time that I took it. Most of my classmates (13) passed also. It seemed that many people failed at Pacific College because they were not studying hard enough and did not know the material. I also saw classes lose students, but usually because the students weren't going to school or just not taking it seriously. I know of a few students that transferred there from Stanbridge and liked Pacific much better.

I'm sorry, I cannot say anything bad about that college. It really prepared me to go on with my career.

It is very simple, make an informed decision based upon graduation numbers and comparing those results with other schools. Compare it fairly and yes, ask questions about the success rate absolutely. Also check out reputations of various training facilities. That is important and often overlooked. My previous point dealt moreso with what I think is unfair critisim. No matter where you go to school, you MUST apply yourself and make a committment to attend, to study and not let obsticles get in the path towards your dream. I don't care what you are studying or where you attend. It is imperative to make a complete commitment not just to your school, but more importantly to your future. So may students think that they can sit back and not work hard. It does not happen that way and you will find that the successful student applies themselves 150%. Ask valid questions to any school, compare. I did.

Hi,

I was just reading these posts, and couldn't believe the junk that is being written about Pacific College.

If some of these people took some responsiblity for their own study habits and behavior, perhaps they would be doing much better in college. I went to Pacific College. Their classes are awesome....Their NCLEX review is awesome....I feel prepared and know I will do well when I take my NCLEX in a few weeks.

Of course drop outs from other schools would go to this school, the standards aren't as high.

:yeah:Good job rudder....did the school pay you in order to get more business....won't happen....everyone in OC and LA counties know about that school....there are a lot of better choices out there now....schools that have good pass rates PLUS advocate for their students.

I guess the school "paid off some other nurses as well". Everyone is here to have an open discussion, you don't need to agree with me but I do take exception to anyone impuning my character or motives. I hope to teach nursing school one day, I think it would be a cool thing to share knowledge.....not there yet, I'm just a nurse with a work ethic, and a belief in working for what I want, and trying harder when it's hard. It doesn't work 100% of the time, but I will give it a good 99%. Good luck to you in your future endeavors.

:yeah:

Good way to put it Rudder. We all have our own opinions. My experience with Pacific College was great. The people that I knew who transferred to Pacific from other colleges (two) did so because they were not satisfied with the training they received from the other schools. Pacific college is not an easy college, but it is effective. My opinion stays the same. I would definitely refer anyone that wants a really good education to that school.:up::up:
