As for Orange County, North Orange County ROP has a good reputation for their LVN program and the costs are minimal. I went there and yes, I was stressed, but they were organized. That was my first nursing experience 6 years ago and now I have just graduated from a community college. I must say that ROP was much more organized than the community college RN program that I went through.

I attend Pacific College and am currently in Term II. I would not recommend this school. LOW quality instructors (especially for Term I and II), bizarre school policies, increadibly bad customer service from the administration, constantly changing testing policies. This is the most unorganized school I have ever attended. No syllabus given until half way through the term. No advance notice of test dates. Teachers with only associates degrees. My recommendation- Do NOT waste your money. Go to an RN school and just wait the time through the waiting list. I wish I had.

I just joined because a friend of my told me about the posting for Pacific College....if you are considering going there....RUN, RUN FAST, ESCAPE WHILE YOU CAN....if you are already a student there....transfer to another school as soon as possible....any place is better than that place....I am Filipina and it is all over the Filipino community that this is NOT the place to go....all the good instructors have left or are leaving....the only ones there are either only LVNs teaching LVNs or have associate degrees only. There is NO SUPPORT or ENCOURAGEMENT for students...all they want is their money....they are sure there at the first of the term with their checks waiting to be signed....but ask for something like a warm classroom, a toilet that works, handsoap in the bathrooms....forget about it.....the curriculum sucks, the teachers are there for a paycheck and could care less about teaching....the disorganization is incredible...administration always says they are going to meet with you but they lie....the Director of Nursing was supposed to meet with me but talked to me by phone saying she was away from the building....she was upstairs in her office...outright lies....the owner of the school is rude, arrogant, nasty to the students...he has said horrible things like "you will never be a nurse, if you don't like it here leave, I don't care (only he cursed)"....the good instructors have been driven away by the new administration....the assistant director of nurses accuses students who do well of being given the answers to test questions....the environment is so stressful that im sick all the time....Im trying to get into an RN program and they recommend ROP in north county, the LVN program at Long Beach City College, or the LVN program at Riverside Community College....Pacific College is NOT recommended at ALL. Like I said, any place would be better than this place. My friends have left Pacific College and are attending Concorde and American Career College. Both of those schools have been supportive and organized.....if you are thinking of Pacific College....RUN, DON"T WALK....Escape before you owe thousands of dollars for a substandard education

I am a student at Pacific College getting ready to graduate in 2 weeks. I am now in term 4. I was lucky to have the same awesome instructor for semester 2 and 3. Term 1, the instructor was sweet but couldn't teach a dog to bark (which comes naturally). Term 4 has been an absolute nightmare. The instructor has taught for 10 weeks straight by intimidation, outright degrading remarks, constant negativity, and humiliation. Our class has not heard one positive comment this whole term. She constantly tells us how stupid we are, how we never learned anything and how she has to do it all. She has never lectured, not once. She reads straight out of the book and always says "you should already know this so i'm not going over it." She has taught there for years but constantly tells us that she has no idea what is on the tests. She gives us no guidance at all. She has never prepared an outline to give us any direction. She says all "handouts" are cheat sheets and constantly talks about our previous instructors saying things like "you know nothing because you were given cheat sheets and answers", "i'm here to polish the apples that fell off the tree", "of course you know nothing in clinical, you were trained by a foreigner", it goes on and on. Our entire class is writing everything that she says and presenting it to the Board of Vocational Nursing in the hope that they will do something about this school. We are also sending copies of what we write to all of the accrediting agencies to let them know just exactly what is going on here at this school. Nursing is supposed to be a caring profession. Abusive teachers should not be allowed. When we object to the way she speaks to us and about the other teachers that we have had her response is to laugh and say "I have a vested interest here, they won't ever let me go." I assume she is a silent partner in the organization and has money invested in the school. If I had it to do all over again, I would never have gone here. I have never felt so "put down", "unappreciated", or "emotionally abused" as I have been by this instructor. If you are considering this school, beware, you might have her as an instructor and your life will be a living hell. :nono: :nono: :nono: :nono: :nono:

I am a recent past student. It's a good program, challenging and full of information. I would like to say that all people have a voice in this forum........but my experience was not negative, and I am saddened by some of the other posts I am reading. It was a fair and well administered program. I am in my forties and have some life and work experience and from my vantage point the school was well worth my hard earned money. My instructors were caring, answered my questions, and if they did not know the answer on the spot they got back to me. I failed one test, and they reviewed the results with me, and based on the way that two questions were written, and my understanding of the material I was allowed to pass. This is a common educational practice. Speaking to the long hours and test taking etc......nursing is hard work, dealing with all types of people, cultures, long hours, fast paced, and wonderful!!!!!!! My favorite instructor was "ONLY" an LVN. Continuing education is my goal, but there is not substitute for hands on experience and my lowly LVN instructor had been a floor nurse for YEARS. Some of my other instructors were Nurse Practitioners, and one was a Doctor. Again, this is a free form forum and freedom of speech is great......I just wanted to weigh in with my opinion. I am happy I went to Pacific and my comments are not to invalidate anyone elses thoughts but it was a great choice for me and I would do it again. Good Luck!

my boyfriend and i both went to pacific college and personally, its an excellent school. obviously, those of you who've had horrible experiences, you'd had bad luck with bad teachers... which in fact, there's one in every school! My class graduated with only a few students who couldnt make it to the end but the remaining students we graduated with an 100% pass rate for the NCLEX.

It is a very tough school which only prepares you more for the real world! And those people who are complaining about how tough the program is, it is simply because you couldnt hang. If becoming an LVN is easy, any idiot off the street could be a nurse. The challenge is what makes you proud in the end. I know plenty of nursing students that went to concorde and CNI and i know that they aren't even close to pacific college standards. so shame on you if you are looking for an easy school. :nono:

The only way money wouldve been an issue, is if you failed. If you failed, you only have yourself to blame. We busted our asses and made it till the end because we are driven people! You shouldnt expect a hand out! The NCLEX wasnt easy so you shouldnt expect school to be!

I am a current student at Pacific College and you are correct IF you are lucky to get one of the FEW good teachers there than you have won half the battle but if not, you are more or less taking a internet course. There are many issues at this school and none that they care to address. We have a class full of hard working students that study 6-9 hours a night 7 days a week. If you have a instructor that is in it for other reasons than teaching you are screwed. If you have one who has an attitude for the students instead of for the recognition than you are fortunate. It is a fast paced course that takes dedication but if you have a nutty instructor there is only so much you can accomplish on your own. DO NOT ATTEND THIS SCHOOL UNLESS YOU ABSOLUTELY NEED TOO.

:angryfireYou need to get your stats right....if you look at the Board of Vocational Nursing they have the 2006 passrates....Concorde was 92% which is highest among all the Orange County Private Vocational Schools...
