Just a little curious that is all! I just found out today in class, on top of everything else we need to memorize, we need to know apothecary conversions too. All my sources tell me this is unheard of, but what are you gonna do. Gotta make the grade right? Let me know if this is common school practice.
We had to learn apothecary conversions also.
We learned apothecary during dosage calc, since then they have stopped teaching it. Simply because they don't use it anymore, in the rare instance that you run across one, Call pharmacy......
It was a very difficult section to learn and it was on the tests, but they now don't teach it. These things seem to always happen AFTER I take the class!!!!
I was actually taught it in my Math for Allied Health class last semester. We had to get above 80 on all dosage calculations including the apothecary conversions in order to pass the class. Our prof told us a lot of the "old school" docs and even a few med schools still teach it, though it really isn't used any more.
