Hi,
I'm starting the accelerated second degree program at VCU in May 06. Is there anyone out here that'll be starting, too???
Hope you see you in May!
Yayyyy! I got in too! I can't wait to pack up my bags and head out to Virginia!! Does anyone know anything about scholarships/fin aid for the summer? I already filled out my fafsa and had it sent to VCU but not exactly sure what the next step is...Thanks!
Julia
I'm not exactly sure about what to do with this either. I am going to call financial aid as soon as I am able to fill out my FAFSA.
Congratulations!!!
I called and asked about financial aid for the summer and they told me that you can't apply for the loans and stuff like that until you register for the classes which I believe we do in March sometime. As for scholarships for the summer I am not really sure, so if anyone knows about that I would like to know. I should probably just call them again and ask... :)
Kudos to everyone! I am sooooo glad and suprised that i got in as i'm still in micro. i'm a little nervous about finishing up class only to get on a plane from Ca to Va. If any one needs a room mate let me know! What is Richmond public transportation like? Does anyone know about on-campus housing? The priority filing date for 09-10 financial aid is Mar 1, and the disbursement of funds begins in July. I was kind of wondering what would happen for the other two months, though.
Hi rickrickyricketts,
Richmond has a pretty decent bus system, but no trains and very sporifice cabs. If you choose to live off-campus, most students live in the residential area of Richmond called the Fan. The Fan surrounds the VCU Monroe Park Campus, which is the academic campus, and there is a free shuttle that runs between the two campuses. Here is the link to On-Campus Housing: http://www.housing.vcu.edu/.
Welcome to the VCU School of Nursing!

Hi Kira,
On-campus housing IS a viable option, but you would definitely want to contact the Office of On-Campus Housing with those questions. We don't handle any housing matters within the School of Nursing. Many students, if they do not already live in the Richmond area, choose to live in the Fan, Church Hill, or Shockoe Bottom areas. Each of those areas is extremely convenient to the School of Nursing. My coworker and I do a session called "Richmond: Where to Live & Play" at the Accepted Student Open House, so you will get a lot of this info then.

I have a bunch of scheduling/ logistic questions as far as the cirriculum is concerned. What is the schedule like as far as breaks are concerned? Do we get time off for Christmas? During that first summer session, how many hours of clincal work will we typically do and is clinical practice centered around the simulation labs at this time? Do we have weekend classes (not that I'll be doing anything other than studying anyway)? How many days a week will we typically spend in lecture? If anyone has the answers to these questions, I would greatly appreciate a response. Now that I've made my descision, I'd like to fill in a couple of blanks. Thanks! Thanks! Thanks!
Kira
