  1. Hi Kira, On-campus housing IS a viable option, but you would definitely want to contact the Office of On-Campus Housing with those questions. We don't handle any housing matters within the School of Nursing. Many students, if they do not already live in the Richmond area, choose to live in the Fan, Church Hill, or Shockoe Bottom areas. Each of those areas is extremely convenient to the School of Nursing. My coworker and I do a session called "Richmond: Where to Live & Play" at the Accepted Student Open House, so you will get a lot of this info then. ~Whitney
  2. Hi rickrickyricketts, Richmond has a pretty decent bus system, but no trains and very sporifice cabs. If you choose to live off-campus, most students live in the residential area of Richmond called the Fan. The Fan surrounds the VCU Monroe Park Campus, which is the academic campus, and there is a free shuttle that runs between the two campuses. Here is the link to On-Campus Housing: http://www.housing.vcu.edu/. Welcome to the VCU School of Nursing! ~Whitney
  3. For questions re: financial aid, please contact the VCU Office of Financial. The School of Nursing's Financial Aid Counselor is available. CONGRATULATIONS!! ~Whitney
  4. CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!
  5. The AB letters are in the mail. They should all land in mailboxes within the next 2 weeks. If you haven't heard by Friday, February 13, please call the office 804-828-5171. But PLEASE try to give it till NEXT Friday. Accelerated Master's decisions should be going out at the end of this week. Please contact the School of Nursing if your address has changed since you submitted your application. Best! Whitney Carswell
  6. Hey there! I just conferred with my Admissions Coordinator and she said that the Cell & Molecular would NOT count. So I'm glad you're signed up for a regular Micro course. Go ahead and take it :-) ~Whitney
  7. Hi Christa, You can send me a pm and I'll give you my email. Send it to me and I'll make sure it gets into your file. Have your friend email me also with her questions! ~Whitney
  8. Hey there! All notifications are scheduled to be mailed out at the very beginning of February. They will be mailed in hard copy to the address listed on your application. So if you have had a change of address, make sure to let us know!! :-) ~Whitney
  9. That's great!! I'm so glad you feel that way :-) We just had a meeting on Monday that included making ourselves as available as possible to our prospective and current students. So it's really great to hear that it's paying off. Let me know if there's anything you think we could do to improve :-) ~Whitney
  10. Since I'm not sure if your application has come up for review yet, I would go ahead and email the information to her ASAP. That way, it can get into your application if it hasn't be reviewed yet :-) So I don't know if it's too late or not. ~Whitney
  11. Well we've already started the decision-making process, but you can email, fax, or mail information. If you're just adding the volunteer experience, then I would send something no more than a page in length detailing your experiences. Now if you haven't started volunteering yet, I would send a description of the position, why you decided to start volunteering, and how this is going to benefit your long-term goals. Best, Whitney
  12. Hi Christa, Did you already apply to the Acc BS program? If you have, it's going to be a little late to include that in your application. If you are applying for next year, you will want to include that information on your resume and in your personal statement, and you could also get the coordinator to be one your references. Hope this helps! Happy New Year! ~Whitney
  13. Hi Hokiety, Decisions for the Summer '09 Accelerated BS and Accelerated MS programs will be going out approx. February 1. You should receive an email confirmation from our Admissions Coordinator, once your application has been received at the School of Nursing. Please keep an eye on your Inbox and/or Junk mail box for her email. She is still working on Accelerated MS applications. Please contact the School of Nursing on January 9th if you have not gotten an email from her as of that day -- not before, please! I look forward to helping you with other questions about the VCU School of Nursing! HAPPY HOLIDAYS! Whitney, VCU School of Nursing
  14. best of luck to all of you applying for nursing school!! when deciding when to apply, you'll first want to talk to the schools you're planning on applying to. some schools do rolling admission ("first come, first served" so to speak). others wait until all applications are in at deadline to review (vcu does this). some schools are dealing with a year-to-year waiting list. some schools do not ever carry a year-to-year waiting list (again, vcu falls into this category. again, your best option is always going to be contacting the school directly. admissions criteria and deadlines are always subject to change and it's best to get that information directly from the source! please let me know if you have any questions directly related to vcu!! happy holidays!!
  15. UMichJenks: Do you live near Richmond or are you looking more in the Northern VA area?
