Anyone starting @ VCU this summer?

I'm starting the accelerated second degree program at VCU in May 06. Is there anyone out here that'll be starting, too???

i decided not to do the master's program even though i plan to become a NP because the costs are greater and i don't want to be locked into 3 years of full-time school. i looked at becoming a PA and never really considered that or becoming a doctor because i prefer the more holistic, patient-centered nursing approach.

anyone else starting at VCU?

same here! I decided to go the trad route though since I work and am married. I didn't want to completely overwhelm myself.

I'm starting my spring soph semester in the nursing program now :)

i'm in the accelerated bsn - there were about 40-45 in the BSN program and 30-35 in the accelerated MSN program. we all start out in classes together and our total number was about 75 this past summer.

If you don't mind me asking, what were your prior college grades like? This is pretty much my only choice in the area if I don't want to do another 4 years of school and I'm a little anxious about getting in.

my undergrad gpa was 3.75 and my pre-req gpa was 4.0. most of my classmates were pretty close to that...so it's pretty competitive.

What do you think my chances are with a 3.5 undergrad, a 4.0 in A&P 1 and only being registered for A&P 2, Devel. Psych, and Microbio?

Hi StarryNyte713 & TypeA, I'm in the midst of applying to VCU's Accelerated Program (I still have 22 days until the deadline!). I've already applied to one other program, but the rest of my deadlines are in Feb.

How many other schools are you guys apply to/investigating? What is your background? I graduated with with a Liberal Arts degree last spring, and I've been working on Prereq's ever since. I'm taking A&P, Statistics, Growth & Development, & Abnormal Psych right now (phew!).

Hello! My background: B.A. in Psych in 2005, 3.4 GPA. Pre-req GPA: 4.0.

I applied to VCU, ODU, and TNCC last Spring. I was accepted/wait-listed at VCU and ODU, but was never called to start. I got into TNCC on my first try and am 12 weeks into the nursing program now. I don't really have any info. about VCU, except that it's obviously extremely competitive.

I can't really give out my stats, etc. I work at VCUHS and I have traveled somewhat of an unusual route and don't want to take the risk of one of my co-workers identifying me. I am a career changer. I am very anxious about the application process. I can't believe that I have waited until the last minute to turn it in. It will finally hit the office on the deadline. Ugh.

Many of my co-workers are VCU SON grads or currently students at some level or another. I am only considering one other school (RN only) if I don't make it into VCU. I really have no desire to go to JSRCC, but I also don't want to waste another year waiting around.

I just applied to VCU, and I am also applying to UVA, for the AMSN. I hope everything falls in line.

Anyone else aiming for VCU in '09?
