Hello!
I am starting the Accelerated Direct Entry Masters program at Regis College this fall 2011! I would love to meet anyone starting the same program. Also any advice on preparing for graduate nursing school would be greatly appreciated! I am super excited, a bit scared and all things in between! :)
hey everyone! i got accepted to the accerlerated bsn/msn/NP program too! i haven't made my final decision yet because the cost is sooo expensive!! Any one has info on loans/grants etc and any ideas on how to pay it off after? I really want to go, but the cost is keeping me from jumping at it
Also, I'm from California and know that I want to settle down and work here after getting my masters and FNP, if I get my degree in Massachusettes does anyone know what it would take to get my RN license adn FNP certification in CA so I can work? Could I apply straight after graduation and just get licensed in CA and not MA or would I have to get my licenses in MA because my degree is from there and then transfer..and does anyone know what that would entail? Any advice would be great! I've tried looking it up at government sites etc and keep getting mixed information!

I'm from California too! But I moved here specifically for school; I have no idea where I'll be after I finish. Tests to become an RN or an NP are national. Once you've passed the test, you just need to apply for the license in whichever state you're living in. It's actually a bit like getting a driver's license in a different state: pay someone some money, fill out a few forms in triplicate and then wait a bit. A pain in the butt, but not difficult.
Shyarra,I am defiantly going. Planning on driving there and then leaving to go out of town right afterwards. I am very excited to be finally going back to school! Im sure you are just as excited!
I'm actually finishing up my prerequisites now, so I've been in school for the last year or so. I'm really excited to be in a degree-seeking program again, though. And I can't wait to be an FNP.
I live in Boston, so I'll be taking the T and the free shuttle to the school. Can't wait to see you there!
Shyarra--
That's awesome that you're from Cali too! What part? I'm in Northern California...moving to Boston would be a BIG change, but I'm looking forward to the adventure of something totally new and different :) Thanks for your input on the RN and NP licenses..that was my line of thinking too, so it's good to hear that that is the case (paper work is always a pain but that it's do-able pretty easily). Since you're more familiar with the place, and suggestions for housing? I'm going to the March 15 lunch and will have a few days to explore so I was planning on checking out different neighborhoods close to campus.
Funny you should mention housing. This has actually been the best week EVER for me, because the day before I got accepted, I found a studio apartment in my price range for September that's only an 8 minute walk from the Green D Line (which goes to Riverside, from which you can catch the free shuttle straight to Regis). I don't have a car, so being close to the correct T line was super-important to me. The apartment is on the back side of the Mission hill neighborhood, which is also where I'm currently living.
The D Line runs through downtown, the Fenway neighborhood, near Mission Hill and through Newton. Hopefully that'll give you a start when you're searching through Craigslist or talking to a realtor. Also, if you want a studio near where I'm living, there's still a few left. They're miniscule, but if having no roommates is important to you, it might be worth a look. Shoot me an email if you want the realtor's number.
Happy apartment hunting, and see you on the 15th!

I got my acceptance letter on Friday and I am psyched! I'll definitely be attending in the fall.
According to the letter, the deposit date for Regis is March 21st, which means I'll be scrounging around for that $1000 like crazy over the next couple weeks. Can't wait to meet everyone this fall!
