Hello!
I am starting the Accelerated Direct Entry Masters program at Regis College this fall 2011! I would love to meet anyone starting the same program. Also any advice on preparing for graduate nursing school would be greatly appreciated! I am super excited, a bit scared and all things in between! :)

Hi dreamagain18! Congratulations! I (finally) received my acceptance letter from Regis today. I'm also excited but terribly nervous at the same time :-) This will be a significant career change for me, and it's been about five years since I've been in school or a classroom setting, but I'm really excited to start!
Congrats VTknt! I guess we will be classmates come this fall! I have been out of the loop for quite some time as well...but it was time to take the plunge and go back to school. I currently work as an MA for a Dermatology practice in Wellesley. I've heard great things about Regis and look forward to the fall. I hear it is an extremely intense program as it is accelerated. Do you plan to work at all part time? They have a full time day and evening option. I'm hoping to do the evening program as I can probably fit in about 15 hours a week of work during the day, plus I'm not a morning person. I will private message you later...maybe we could exchange info and chat:-)

Hello Dreamagain18,
I just went for my interview today for Regis and I am super nervous. I was wondering that I saw a few of your previous post and you sad you got accepted for fall 2010?? Did you defer your acceptance and if you don't mind me asking what reason that you didn't go last year. My GPA is not stellar but just a little bit above the requirement and my GRE is only 970. They said not to worry too much about my GRE score.... I am so nervous!!! How could I not worry! I am dying to get back into school so I hope I hear something from them soon. THEN we can be classmates!!!

Hi Lannygirl5! :)
I thought the interviews were conducted before the deadline (Feb 1). Are there two interviews that are conducted for the admissions' process?
Hello JTN333,
Application due date for Regis was Feb. 8th and no I don't think there are 2 interviews. I called for an interview right after I submitted the application so it was fine. How did your interview go?? Have you heard back? They told me the comittee will meet next week and they will notify me by end of Feb/beginning of March. I hope everything went well for you. I am glad to hear that Regis you dont have to pick you specialty until you last year of the RN component. Also, I have a question for you. How is it being a CNA and how long have you been a CNA?? I am thinking about getting mine because I think to some degree it really make your application stronger so I just want to learn more about it.

I'm a second-year in the Regis College direct entry program. Welcome to our family :) I'm actually taking the NCLEX TODAY (trying to calm my nerves by hanging around on the forums before I go take my test), but I'd be happy to answer anyone's questions about the program.

I was confused by something on the Regis website. Under the different nursing pathways chart, it says you can exit the direct entry program after getting the BSN portion. Does anyone know if people do this? I'd think since it's advertised as the Master's program, they would only want people who are going to complete the whole thing.

LGD2011,
I asked one of the admission counselors that very question at an information session and she said most students continue straight on into the masters program. Also, I spoke with a couple of the nurses at a hospital I volunteer at and they said if you can, continue through...that it is very difficult to go back after working out in the field. Of course it's possible to go back, but she said you can become very comfortable just as an RN and the masters part slowly can slip away, and the motivation for the masters is lost.
IMO I think it all depends on the person, but if it were me, I would continue right on through.
But Jennifer0512 may be able to give you a better explanation because she is actually in the program.
Hi LGD2011,
It is possible to exit at the BSN level and I do have people in my class who are planning on doing that. Some people want to work as an RN for a little while before continuing on, others need a break from school, and some people have decided at least for now they only want to be an RN. No one is forcing anyone to stay. However, I would still say the majority of students continue on full time (I am). Continuing on is definitely easier motivation wise (you're already in school might as weel keep going!!) and Regis definitely encourages the continuation as well.
Thanks for the info.
Jennifer0512 - Good luck on the NCLEX!

Hi Everyone!
I am currently waiting on a regular decision letter that I assume will come the end of this month. I was wondering how current students feel about the program especially when it comes to the quality of the teachers. I am a little concerned with Regis and here is why. I am currently taking a pre-req there- Chem 1 and 2 combined. Although we just had our first test which I did well on, the teaching style is basically "teach yourself" and the labs are extremely disorganized. I just hope that the nursing program is not the same way. If anyone can brief me on the teaching style or give any information at all it will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
