Fact is a fact. I don't disagree with 5cats. Due to an increase nursing trend here in the Philippines, many institutions have opened to provide nursing courses. Unfortunately, they don't produce quality nurses. Some just enroll to gain such degree but cannot function as one. Some are lucky enough to find employers to petition them but reality sets in once they are at work and they are tested with their skills, eventually employers will realize they are not capable. As a result, it stained the skills of Filipino nurses. But if you are still applying like me, don't be discourage as long as you know for your self that your are equipped with what they require, we always and still have a chance to prove ourselves. :wink2: So for newly graduates don't be desperate to jump instantly working abroad. Have an experience first so you will gain confidence and skills. Degree isn't enough in nursing. Its the experience that matter.Just make sure that your experience is of quality of course. :wink2:
Hi guys, I've followed this thread, and I've find a good deal of material to think about. I'm not working as a nurse in Canada yet, but I'm working as a UCP right now. I feel in the middle of the "crab mentality" at work right now; the worst part is that the people that are "crabbing" are from my own country. The problem is meant to increase since most of the new hires are from the same country and not Canadians or other immigrants. I don't know what to do because we don't have a union.
I fully empathize with Fiona, but I don't have anyone to address my concern.
"I don't have to cheer up, I'm quite cheerful allready, thank you very much.
And it's not my opinion, those are facts presented by my coworkers who were precepting the new nurses from the Philippines.
And those recruitment drives are out of desperation, no other reason for it.
I do wish applicants the best, but they might find more obstacles than they thought there would be.
And nursemich is right, it takes a while to settle in, but it shouldn't take a year to get the basics.

whooh....... "out of big desperation...no other reason for it". How sure you are about it? Pretty tough huh! I can't imagine why there are some Canadians who called them self as a Nurse are still Racists. Remember that Canada is country of foreign migrant... everybody deserved their chance to grow and everybody deserved the right to chose what do they believe. If your so called friend or coworkers who were precepting the new nurses from the Philippines told you about it... do you think act and behave according to it (hearsays)? As a nurse we don't just listen to other people but instead we act professionally. Lets make it clear- do you think all new nurse grad canadians can do the job 100%. If no-So back off... You don't have a right to judged other. And If yes- I can prove you that you are wrong..... Cheer Up!!!
To the peeps who are reading this thread seeking for regristration in Saskatchewan or anywhere in Canada.. just continue believing in your Dreams....because there are still Canadian Employers believe on us.... Don't be discourage to some posters here prove them wrong....
Are you referring to me 5cats? I have already applied for assessment in Sask. I haven't heard from them since their acknowledgment of my application. It has been 4 months now. I'm sure that they have received all the requirements already. I emailed them but still there is no response.
Yep,
I meant which area here in SK or which hospital you are interested in, you can pm if you want.
