hi, i'm thinking of applying to saskatchewan because i applied to b.c. and they recommended me to take SEC (med-surg). i don't want to take it because of financial reasons.

I don't see any logic in it, first of all I assume you applied in BC because you want to live and work there, so it makes no sense to me to apply somewhere else. Then why spend double fees? Better save that money for the flight ticket to take SEC. If you really want to go to Canada, just do it.

And to lie to a nursing association is completly against the canadian nurses code of ethics and everything else, the idea alone is very offending to me. In Canada nursing is a self regulating profession and we rely on the nurses honesty.

If you don't want to take SEC, maybe should consider a different country.

Hi. What I would like to know is how long is your approval valid? For a year or two? What if you have decided to take the CRNE next year or the next two years, will they still allow it? Is it indicated in your approval when you should take the exam?

I was hired by the same employer, but for pasqua hospital, regina. january hire too. sent my SRNA application november 08, even before the january interview. to date, i have received my visa but still awaiting SRNA approval. as of may 27, SRNA sent a verification of authenticity to PRC and to my employer. they asked me to wait 6 wks (from may 27). departure date is dependent on SRNA approval.

wat's the status of your srna? any news as to your visa?

i have sent my application to SRNA about a month after you did so im hopeful that i can get the approval soon too.

They advise you to take CRNE at the next opportunity, requirements might change and then you might not be eligible anymore.

maelyrn, i received my eligibility 2 months after they emailed me the checklist.

nursemich, i am advised to write crne immediately, they noted that i can still take it next year, but if the rules will change before passing the exam, they will ask me for additional documents needed.

We are both January hires.. I processed my SRNA starting Feb2009.. I already have my visa also.. I am waiting for my employers' verification as of the moment.. They have sent me the employers' verification last March 24, 2009.. and up to now my employer hasn't received anything.. What I did was, I requested for them to send another employers' verification and they immediately send another checklist for my employer.. I checked the address and the recepient before sending them another request, so that there will be no mistakes that could take place.. They have already verified my PRC license according to the PDF file that they have sent to me thru e-mail.. my e-mail confirmation was sent last May 29, 2009.. they have resend my employers' verification last June 11,2009..

if i may ask, the employer's verification was sent thru email? I was informed that they sent it thru email but my employer has not received anything from srna up to now.

any advise from mercan as to departure date?

by the way, are you for regina general or pasqua? OR or CCU?

They will be sending the employers' verification thru regular mail.. I am still waiting up to now.. I will be assigned in Regina General Hospital - SICU.. How about you, what will be your unit in Pasqua?

about the departure date, mercan informed me that it will be on november, 5 people at a time, depending on who has SRNA eligibility.

the employer's verification was sent to my employer even before they sent me a checklist. it was mailed back to them months a ago. Last may 27, they sent another verification by mail, this time, by email. however, my employer has not received anything yet. I emailed SRNA informing them about it, and confirmed the correct email address. Up to date, no mail, email or otherwise was received... huhum...

luckily you guys had already news about the status of your application. take note, i started my papers last march and till now no reply from them. I got already my canadian working visa approval this July but still waiting for my eligibility. If it will take too long before the year ends, i think i'm going to consider my US- H1b visa application. anyways goodluck to both of us.
