Sockmonkey70 - due to that very complaint our hospital is going to no visible piercings at all. No tongue, nose, eyebrow, ears, or other visible part of your body may have any type of jewelry in it. Period.

Only a wrist watch and a plain wedding band will be allowed after August 1st.

And I think that is totally fair! I just don't understand why one type of piercing is permissable and others are not.

As to the discomfort during a cold, it isn't a problem unless you haven't taken care of the piercing and it is infected. Snot does not fly out of the hole, despite popular belief LOL. If it is healed properly, it is like it isn't even there for me.

Okay, for those of you with nose rings, I'm going to ask the question I've always wondered about and never had the nerve to ask - isn't it awfully messy or uncomfortable if you have a head cold or allergies? Just one of those thoughts that goes through my head when I'm looking at someone with a nose ring.

:lol2:

That's another common question I get. Nope, no boogies get stuck to it, and nothing comes out the hole. I can still (quite effectively!) blow my nose when I have a cold. And I have bad sinuses and seasonal allergies.

Honestly, the only time it bugs me or gets in the way is when I'm swimming and want to hold my nose--I have to pinch it high up. Oh yeah, and once in a blue moon, I'll kinda forget about it when I dry my face and it'll get hooked on the towel. That's uncomfortable!

my nosrings in fact are all stud earrings where I just mad an 90° angle somwhere close the middle to, so I can take them out whenever I like ...

& sometimes it's fun to show that to patients :thankya:
