I'm just got my acceptance letter for next semester and I'm trying to figure out what the hours will be like at palomar college for 1st semester of nursing. Anyone have any ideas???

Was thinking about you today, now that I've been in First Semester a couple weeks now. Haven't heard your name floating around class. Are you there with me and I just haven't met you yet? IF not, what happened? Hope all is well.

Audrey

Hi Audrey! Sorry I haven't got back to you. I had to bypass until fall. My Grandmother was very ill and I wasn't sure how long she would need me. She passed away sooner than I thought.

How is it going? Going crazy yet? Let me know! Thanks for thinking of me. :D

Up to my eyeballs in studying...you wouldn't believe how much there is....five days a week, too, is truly a test of endurance! We all pretty much go home and study until we go to bed every night...no kidding! And for those of us who work (quite a few), there's no time for playtime, etc. I'll give you a heads up...DO the Math book...Dosage calculations....the whole book and be very competent with it. I procrastinated...and now I may pay the price. There's so much book studying we hardly have time for the Math though we do work on skills during Lecture. Lots of group activties in class. I really like how it's organized. The first math exam is in a couple weeks. Must pass 90%, though you do get a second chance. We're also already having our first Theory exam next Tuesday.

Send me email directly so it's easier for me. [email protected].

Wow I just looked at their waitlist...417 and only 56 possible get in.....it might be over 3 years even with people dropping off the wait list

Hey Audrey!

Congrats on getting into Palomar... from all that I've heard, the wait list is a course in and of itself :) I am actually looking into LVN programs in San Diego, North County, do you or does anyone know of any? Preferably near Camp Pendleton/San Marcos area.

So I'm considering either LVN or RN at Palomar. Due to the wait list though, I figured I may just get my Micro out of the way. Does anyone know of any good schools where I can get this completed at?

Would love any help anyone could offer :) Thanks so much

Is the Palomar nursing program really worth waiting 3 years to get into?

well, the wait was probably half of what they said it would be and it is supposed to be a really good nursing school. it's a good choice for me because it's close ( i can't relocate due to family), cheap, and one of the best programs in the state.

I was on the Palomar college website and it sounded like to me that they just have the program for LVN's to become RN's. Is this true, or I am missing something?? I have just graduated high school and was hoping to go into a LVN program.....I was also wondering if in California you first have to be a CNA, before you can become and LVN?

I am still just looking at all of my options, if anyone has any advice let me know!!!! Thanks!

Palomar has both programs, RN degree and LVN stepup program. MiraCosta College also has an LVN program that does require a CNA first - and they also have the CNA course.

Okay, great, thanks for the information! The generic program is the basic LVN program...correct? For the generic program do you have to have all of your pre-reqs done before you apply for the waitlist? Does anyone know if Palomar accepts CLEPS and/or Dantes? I was hoping to test out of Anatomy and Physiology since I aced both of those classes in high school. Thank you so much to anybody who answers!!! I really appreciate any help/advice:)
