I'm originally from the LVH. I worked at LVH-CC for two years before I moved to the midwest. I work now at what is soposed to be one of the best hospitals in the state. I have to tell you , LVH was so much better. Even though I didn't feel it at the time, I can now see how much more valued I was at LVH. I felt for the most part respected by peers, managers, as well as physicians.
I think I might move back to the valley, and I will definately be contacting LVH for employment.
I also live in Bethlehem and work at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest.I don't feel comfortable posting what I know about this subject in a public forum. Please PM me for further details.
Why, if I may ask are you interested in an accelerated program?
ty for the reply. it won't let me pm right now for some reason so i will try a bit later.
as for why i am interested in the accelerated program... i have a 4 year degree in psychology and 2.5 years of chiropractic school. i also have a 16 month old! LOL. i already have a ton of the science courses completed as well as the psychology requirements, so i was excited to see a program where i could put my hard work to use.

nice to know that they are good to work for! i hope you are able to move back to the valley! GL!
I live in Allentown. I'm currently going to LCCC finishing up my pre-reqs. I'm hoping to work for LVH as an RN after I graduate in 09' (seems like a lifetime away). My neighbor is a PT at LVH and loves it there. My father went to DeSales got his BS in computer programming after he retired, loved his school.
Best of luck to you!
I just graduated from DeSales and I was in the 2nd Accelerated BSN class. PM me if you have any questions.
I am not really from that area, I'm from the Philly area, but had an interview at St. Luke's and Lehigh Valley. They both wanted to hire me. I would recommend either hospital. I liked both, but had to make a decision. I chose Lehigh Valley!! I have heard many great things about them and for a new nurse they offered 12 weeks of training that includes class and clinical, which I felt was what I would need to be prepared for my new career. I would probably suggest doing some research or getting in touch with each hospital and asking a lot of questions that pertain to your specific specifications in what you are looking for. Then write up a pros and cons list for each. As far as Desales, I don't know much about them. Good Luck!!
I think the pay could be better in all of the Lehigh Valley Hospitals. They are $10 an hour less than a lot of the Philly area hospitals. I have heard that they work together to keep the pay the same, which is something that is being challenged legally in other areas of the country.
LVH is a good place to work, but they could pay a lot better.
mummer 43, I couldn't agree with you more. This is why I only work in Philly. I also think you are getting a better job experience overall, you see alot more down there. Everyone thinks I am nuts, but I actually make $25/per hour more than I would make PER DIEM at LVH. I think its worth the 1hr 15 min. drive. For only being 1 hour away, the pay really bad. LVH actually pays a little better than St. Lukes and Sacred Heart, so guess they think, why should they have to raise their pay?
I have worked at St. Luke's. Right now, they are going through the process of magnet application. That means they have to address problems in communication etc. I noticed a difference in the communication from the top management to middle management when I was there. They have a long way to go. My greatest frustration there was lack of leadership to pull the team together to do a better job. Sometimes, it was a no brainer but we couldn't get it together without someone in charge. It should get better as they work on this magnet status. Overall, I liked the hospital and the people there, including the managers. I would like to try Lehigh Valley hospital but haven't found the right job yet. The recruiter and staff that I interviewed with all seemed to enjoy there jobs and working at that hospital. I found the personal attention the recruiter gave me was impressive. She was interested in using my strengths in the right area.
Good luck.
