  2. post by rmccray2: omg!!!!!! congrats to you rn. well, i'm still waiting to get my results. unfortunately i don't live in one of the states that offers quick results, so i'm checking my brn site a couple times a day. i'm so proud of you. hopefully bu the end of the week i will be feeling just as good as you are right now. once again congrats rn. you go girl!!!!!!!!!! rmccray2, well let me know how you made out. if it was anything like my description, you probably passed. the longer i waited for results, the more like i thought i failed, so try to stay positive. good luck!
  3. I'm speaking from my point of view. I had my son during nursing school, 2 months before graduation. He's my second child. I have a 5 year old. I did not plan to get pregnant that soon. We were shooting for after I graduated, but things happen. Anyway I was pregnant during nursing III and IV. I still made graduation! It wasn't easy considering I also worked full time up until the birth, however I pulled it off. You really would need to have a great plan with a supportive family. There will need to be someone to care for the baby when you are gone, etc. It's just really a lot of work, stress, etc. I don't know if you are willing to put yourself through all of that. I'm kind of wondering why you could not wait until your finished and married and some of the stress has been gone before you decide to start a family. Your fiance is able to have children pass 30 so I don't really understand the logic to that, unless maybe if you are waiting, it's posing danger to you. I do not know how old you are. Anyhow if it was a decision for myself, I would probably wait it out until I and my family were situated.
  4. Well I don't know how much help I could give you, but I'll tell you about myself and you decide. I am now 30 and started nursing school in 2004 (doing pre-reqs) and began clinical in late 2005. I graduated in May 2007. When I started school I was working full time and taking care of my daughter, who is now 5 along with a household. I changed jobs to work at a hospital as a nursing assistant 1 year before graduation. I still worked full time and went to school. I also found out in June of that year 2006 that I was pregnant. I gave birth in March before end of semester. I worked full time all the way up until I had my son and still pulled off graduating. I believe it to be very likely to work and attend nursing school. You will just not have much of a life outside of work and school. Good luck!!
  5. I am not really from that area, I'm from the Philly area, but had an interview at St. Luke's and Lehigh Valley. They both wanted to hire me. I would recommend either hospital. I liked both, but had to make a decision. I chose Lehigh Valley!! I have heard many great things about them and for a new nurse they offered 12 weeks of training that includes class and clinical, which I felt was what I would need to be prepared for my new career. I would probably suggest doing some research or getting in touch with each hospital and asking a lot of questions that pertain to your specific specifications in what you are looking for. Then write up a pros and cons list for each. As far as Desales, I don't know much about them. Good Luck!!
  6. This site is really great, I just signed up. I graduated in May from an ADN RN program and took the boards in July. Unfortunately I was not successful at 265 questions. I just took them for the 2nd time on Sat and it shut-off at 75, which I never expected so of course I was shocked and nervous, but excited at the same time. I really deep down don't think I could have done worse than the first exam, which I came out as near passing for every category. Between exams I did over 4000 questions from Saunders and NCSBN website. I can't even really remember much from my exam except that I had 4 all that apply questions, some disaster questions, several priority questions (like who would you assess first), 1 really hard question that I never heard of and had no clue about (pertained to chinese medicine, but the answers had the names of chinese therapies or something along those lines), and 1 question I definately got wrong which was an EKG strip. Dummy me I knew instinctly what the answer was and allowed my brain to talk me out of it. So of course I'm slightly worried. I had no math calculations and probably no more than 5 that I thought were easy that I'm sure I got right. I'm just freaking out because I really need to pass so I can go back to work. I have a job waiting for me, but if I didn't pass again I think I'll have to resign. I just want to know what everyone thinks. I mean it sucks when you have nothing to go on. It would be nice if they could make the exam so you get results right away, like when you take your driving permit exam. I'm not even sure when I will be able to get results, since it's a holiday weekend, too. My family thinks I passed and I'm hoping they're right. I feel that I worked hard and learned a lot in between exams, however I'm also not the best test taker. Any feedback would hopefully help with how I feel. Thanks everyone for listening!! 9/3/2007 UPDATE>>>>>>>>>>>> I PASSED!!! Thanks for all the support and good words in my time of waiting. I opted to pay the $7.95 for the results from pearson since they had them today. I couldn't wait any longer, especially when I knew that I could get them if I really wanted to. :
