Hello
I took my NCLEX yesterday for the 3rd time. It took me 5 hours and all 265 questions. I am SOOOO freaking out! Does anyone know if 265 questions is a good sign??
I'm in CA and took the NCLEX a week ago. I'm nervous to find out. I have a feeling that I failed. The waiting is painful - I 'm starting to get depressed. My exam shut off at 75, I had several SATAs - I'll keep reading posts to hopefully ease the stress I'm feeling.
I took mine May 9 and stopped at 75... Found out that I passed May 12...
Good luck on your result... God bless... :)
i had mine mailed to me, with the card and other stuff. i looked it up under rn.ca.gov on license verification. but mine was out of state so i can't find my name at first. but then i tried again and there it was.
the number of questions you answered does not tell you if you passed or fail.i think it measures your competency on nursing stuff. and your consistency on answering correctly.
my reviewer once told me that if you answer correct every time, questions gets difficult. but when i took it i just didn't know the answer. lol.but anyway after 77 questions i went out crying..but i passed..yay!!
I would think you would have to get the 265th question right in order to pass; doesn't it shut down when it obtains the specific amount of questions it needs to form a pass/fail judgment?
It's my understanding that it shuts down when it is 95% certain a candidate is above or below the passing standard. If it's less than 95% certain (pass or fail, doesn't matter) it will keep asking questions till the computer is 95% certain or you hit the max of 265 or time runs out. If you answer the max or time runs out, the computer will ignore the 95% requirement and instead decides if you have consistently been above or below the passing standard to determine pass/fail. I also read somewhere that it focuses on the last 60 questions slightly more than the previous questions but I've not confirmed that so take that tidbit with a grain of salt!
However, you can't say you passed or failed based on knowing if you got the last question answered correct or incorrect. Every exam has 15 (for RN, 25 for LPN) questions that don't count. Those sample questions are mixed in with the other questions and there is no way to tell if you are answering a real question or a sample question. It's quite possible that the final question you are asked doesn't count, so getting it right or wrong wouldn't influence whether it pushed you over or under the passing standard.
