I just found out today that we're moving to Jackson from Memphis. I am currently a pre-nursing student at Southwest Tennessee Community College and was wondering if anyone could give me any advice or information on the 2 year nursing programs in Jackson. Thanks so much!!!

Jackson State is the big community college (http://www.jscc.edu/nursing). They have a very large nursing program admitting 80 students a semester. Unfortunately the deadline has already passed for fall admission. You can apply for Spring admission by Aug 1. They base admissions 20% on GPA and 80% on ACT. The website gives the breakdown on what scores give you what points. I believe they have 400-500 apps a semester.
The program is excellent. Very supportive staff, high pass rates. They just got a HUGE grant and will be expanding...although they haven't said exact plans for the money.
I believe the only other programs would be bachelors programs like Union University. I think there is one at Lambuth too. UT Martin also offers a RN-BSN program in Jackson. Although Jackson State offers a dual enrollment program with the University of Memphis to get your RN-BSN online.
No, Lambuth does not have a program. Union (BSN) and JSCC (ADN) are your main schools in Jackson. The school of nursing at Union just purchased a human simulator and some other new things for the department.
