Anyone interested in attending a closed medical personnel meeting in San Marcos area?

Published

I am considering starting an allied health and nursing closed AA/NA meeting in San Marcos. Anyone interested in attending. Purpose would be to have a place to share issues in the work place as it applies to recovery. Would like to start with once a month and increase if the interest is there. What do you think? This will be a constructive meeting to help with TPAPN navigation (not complaining), coping with work issues. Would like to try feedback method but if group is large it will be hard to accommodate this and might revert to AA share. Meeting will qualify as AA meeting credit but will be unadvertised and closed

You may want to post this in the Nurses/Recovery forum. I think you would have better responses in that forum.

Too far for me! Good luck!

One is in Austin- 40 miles and takes 1.25 hrs to get to. Other in San Antonio and is 40 miles away as well. FYI- tpapn considering requiring nurse support meetings mandatory. That one will cost $$. Trying to be proactive and prevent more cost in recovery. I drive the distance personally - if we establish these and keep them from being tpapn complaint sessions perhaps it will be possible to keep some of our costs down. I already see nurse support groups identified in the meeting record report. I read this on another. Log. They require this in washington state and they cost $35 a week to attend- the entire monitoring duration. Idea is to be proactive.

Possibly. I live in Round Rock so it's a bit of a drive but will probably move to Austin by January.

I will look for place to meet in south Austin or maybe buda. I really think we better get proactive before they add yet another expense to recovery!

Where did you get the information that TPAPN was considering requiring nurse support meetings? Can they change this in the middle of your contract? This doesn't sound right.

Also, where is current meeting you alluded to in your earlier message?

I got the information from the CRNA blog. Apparently the standards across the country are looking at how nurses in recovery need support from other nurses in recovery to talk about the work related issues. After speaking with my advocate I got a distinct impression that the sentiment is that nurses can't do it themselves in an AA/NA format like the MDs, pilot programs using a

therapist are going to happen in the near future. I like my advocate. She is up front with me. She did state the concern for this type of meetng and it s already on the slate as a trial. But it did come out of the CRNA format. The current 3 yr requirement is now 5 for CRNAs because of our association's letter in 2010. The certification board is going to require it and as other states such as Washington find it successful (Texas is in the same compact) I think it is probably right on the money. I think they can probably jst outline it as one of he required meetings. Look in the on line drop down menu in the on line meeting type list.

I attend Cadeusus in Austin. The space would not accommodate the numbers I think we must be. A

Ali, which CRNA blog are you referring to? Can you provide a link?
