Hi all!
I just found this board and it's awesome! I wish I had had this information a few years back when I was starting all of my pre-req's!
Just a quick question - I've still waiting for letters from SFSU's Generic MSN program. Has anyone else heard? If so, what was your emphasis? I chose Adult Critical Care.
Thanks so much!
Crazy! Thanks for the chin-up comments. We all need to remember that :-) I know I do.
CSU-EB: Is an excellent program, and so you should be excited! I hear they are a very organized program and so you should have an great experience. I know the challenge in commute faces you. Ultimately, you will come out an excellent Nurse and in great demand!
Cheers!
I just wanted to join company with you all who are still waiting on word from SFSU. Since we're here, have any of you heard about the "quality" of the GMSN program? I have a few friends who go to Samuel Merritt and speak highly of it (the tuition literally being high as well) and I've heard things about UCSF...but I haven't heard much about SFSU. Anybody have input they'd like to share?
Samuel Merritt's tuition is absolutely ridiculous, but my friend who's during the RN program at CSM told me you get what you pay for. As for the SFSU MSN program, I haven't heard too much about it. I do know that you have to find your own preceptors for your master's work. UCSF, on the other hand, finds the preceptors for you.
From working in healthcare in San Francisco, I know that SF State has the "reputation" for being a solid nursing school. But I've never actually been able to track down anybody who has graduated from the CNS program there (or many who've gotten in this year, for that matter!). What they *don't* have a reputation for is organization. There isn't a lot of hand holding, from what I understand. Like milan02 says, "You get what you pay for!"
So, I've been rejected. Via the website:
"After a careful analysis of the admissions materials you have filed, we regret to inform you that your application for admission to San Francisco State University has been denied admission. An official letter explaining the reason for denial will be sent to you. "
Bummer...
Anyway, it looks like I'm going to go ahead and get a CNA, at least I can work in the Health industry and get some experience. I'm interested to see what my letter says, I wasn't even waitlisted so I don't know what my chances would be to reapply to this program.

Same here. Thanks for your support. I'm sorry you are suffering, but misery loves company--right?
I think I'm going to go home and stalk my mail carrier. I'm usless here.
