anyone is going to saddleback cc?

Hi, I just wanted to know if there is someone else applying to the RN program at SAddleback college. I just finished my pre-reqs and 6 out of seven of the core courses, but I didn't get straight A's and they say there are like 300 applicants for 55 spots. I'm applying on september ...ohhh this is driving me nuts. I'm allready feeling the waiting nightmare and they send letters until the end of october. WEll just wanted to vent. HAve you heard anyone that got in with no straigh A's the first time?

Yes.. you can get in without straight A's, call the nursing office and ask what their lowest number of points was that was accepted last semester... it won't be a guarantee.. but at least you will know "past history" One year ago it was around 36 points (out of 50). Not sure how it works with the new system. Good Luck!

I don't know what their acceptance criteria is like but am most likely going to apply in the Spring 2007 semester.

Good luck!!

Thank you that really gives me hope. Are you in the program at SCC?

Hey ladies! I'm not applying for this fall's nursing program as I still need to take my pre-req's but I just wanted to say hello. Good luck getting into the program and please let us know what happens! Did you apply to any other schools as well?

On another note I have a couple of questions for you if you don't mind. I'm always on the hunt for nursing students so I can pick their brain on their pre-reqs. Did you attend Saddleback for your science courses? What were your professor's like and how well did you do in the classes? I'm going to be taking Anatomy & Chem in the Fall and Phys & Micro in the Spring and I'm trying to prep in anyway I can. I purchased a few books such as Anatomy & Physiology Made Incredibly Easy, Chemistry for Dummies, and Barron's Human Anatomy flashcards. I'm a pretty good student and I'll be quitting my job to focus on the science classes full time so I'm hoping I can achieve all A's. Here's to hoping!!!

Hi, good luck with your courses. I took half of the clases at Saddleback and half at IVC. I took phisiology with Riegle and he is very very good, you'll learn a lot with him, I got B, it's a tough class wherever you take it(IVC) IN Micro and Anatomy I got A's they are both very hard but be prepare to study all day long or at least 24 hrs per week. I just had the books required for the classes. I don't think the other books will help you since teachers take different topics from each book and the don't cover exactly everything. So it's better if you study from the book they ask you to buy becouse some times things change per book, and besides, your not going to have enough time to review several books, believe me its a LOT LOT of Study. My recomendation is: COncentrate on the lecture notes they give you and tray to understand everything in classs and study every day. IF you skip days you'll going to get overload a day before the test and because it's a lot of information theres no way to learn it one or two days before, there's simply NO WAY. Drink lots of coffe and try to enjoy them its really fun when you like it. Keep in touch.

Hey Veronica77 - did you take any other classes with your anatomy, microbiology, etc., or did you focus all your efforts on them? Trying to decide if I should squeeze in a sociology class or something.

Thanks!

Saddleback College student here...Transferred from Riverside CC...moved down to South OC. I will be taking Anatomy in the Fall. I'm taking Eng 1A now (Summer) and I just took Bio 20 (Spring). I need to complete my sciences and then I can apply. Possibly Fall 07.

Tessa~;)

Hello future nurses in OC! This is my first post on this website and I'm happy to meet you all! I will be starting the Nursing program at Saddleback this Fall '06. I took all my prereq's at Saddleback (except Anatomy) and in my opinion, my professors were awesome. Best of luck to all!

Specializes in 3 mos Ortho, 1 year CICU.

Hello Hello Saddleback people, I guess I'm in the same boat here too sorta, except I'm currently taking Microbiology here at UCI's summer session-pretty damn intense if I dare say... I figured I just wanted to get done and was scared to be stuck with a bad professor at a JC-I heard some at IVC were pretty horrible. I am just taking a short study break and felt the need to vent my emotions. I am going to finish Physiology at UCI as well this summer. I actually graduated from UCI with a BA in economics and a minor in digital arts but figured I wanted to go the nursing path instead... I know, total 360.

Anyways, if I can't get into Saddleback's Fall '07 program, I have to go to san diego to do Meric College and spend $45,000 on tuition just for the associates degree! I'm pretty anxious to get somewhere in this... do you guys know if they take into consideration the school you took your pre-req's for brownie points? I am busting my ass off for an A right now because Micro-bio here is an upper division course and so I am competing with Bio-Majors on the mercy of the Bell curve...hah we'll see how it goes.

Specializes in Med/Surg, Hospice.

I'm not going to Saddleback, I don't even live in California, but I grew up in Huntington Beach and just wanted to say "hello" to the So Cal students.

Reading your posts has made me homesick.
