Anyone going to PHCC (Pasco-Hernando Community College) for pre-req's or NS?

Published

I am finishing up my pre-req's and would love to see if anyone is in the same boat as I am or even in nursing school. Any advice would be much appreciated! :D

MJ you are definitely in! Good job!!!:yeah:

Did any of you go to the nursing applicant meeting a couple weeks back? Apparently it was very informative and I am kicking myself for missing it. At that time, they said they had already received 400+ applications. :( What's the point if you dont have a perfect GPA and near perfect TEAS? I'm so upset. 48 seats out of probably at least 500 applicants by now, and climbing. I would have better odds if I took a bunch of poker chips, stood on the strip and just threw them in the casino door.

And to work in a hospital where the nurses are pulling their hair out most nights having 6 and occasionally 7 patients is infuriating. Something needs to change and this nusring school bottleneck needs to open up.

I can't even being to express my level of depression. :sniff:

Thank you for the words of encouragement, Chris!

I knew nothing about a nursing meeting... How did people hear about this? I am so upset, I would have gone in a heartbeat! And I can't believe they have so many applicants already! An advisor told me earlier in the year that the stories of having 500 applicants is a huge exaggeration; there were usually only 200-300. I hate this not knowing! I need to put in my LPN apps then.....

No, no with a 4.0 and an 88% you are golden. I haven't met one person yet from PHCC that has gotten in the 90s for the TEAS. I"m sure they are out there, but I have yet to meet them. So you will be at the tippy top when it comes time to rank applicants.

Bravo! You should be proud and not have an ounce of worry!! Relax! ;-)

You guys are awesome... Thanks for the kind words! I hope we all get in and go through school together! We need a strong support group :)

Hi I just found this site, I just wanted to say that I did go to the nurses meeting back on 5/3. It really wasnt anything that I didnt know already. They just went over all the info that is already on the website.

Just took my Teas test on Thursday. I was totally bummed out I got a 72%, but I have 4.0....

shefish,

did they say there were over 500 applications already... and are they still saying you need in the 90s on your TEAS to get accepted? This waiting is stressing me out!! I have a 3.76 GPA and an 88.2% composite on the TEAS...

Im not stressing anymore!!! LOL I have been stressed out about this for a year! I applied, and if I get in, then I get in. If I don't Ill apply again for Jan, and take the teas again for a higher score. Good Luck to you all!

Okay, I am tired of lurking :) I've been obsessed with this site for MONTHS. It's been great to see PHCC students on this forum!

I turned in my application this afternoon for both the generic track RN and the daytime LPN. I submitted a 4.0 on prereqs and an 87.1 TEAS. Took it once, thought it really stunk (well, Science did...really, plate tectonics? Why?), made another appointment, decided to give it up to God, cancelled second appointment, and just submitted what I had, so here I am! Ready to wait until mid-July...

It's my understanding that we should expect letters of acknowledgement about a week after submitting our apps.

Good luck to us all, and thank you to the regular posters who I've been cyber-stalking for TEAS scores, gpa's and information...lol

That is an awesome score! You shouldn't be worried at all! And I am the hugest lurker in existance, so don't worry about it :lol2: Yes, good luck to everyone who applied, I hope we are all there at orientation and on the first day!

I received letters in the mail yesterday acknowledging that my application packages have been received, reviewed and determined to be complete. The LPN letter states the committee will meet "shortly" and RN states the committee will meet in JULY for selection of students.

Any other newbies ready to out themselves as lurkers and share scores and GPAs they submitted?

New thread idea :)

I got my RN letter, too. My jaw dropped when I read July! I don't know if I can take this waiting game :/

I know this thread is aimed for the RN program, but I just applied into the LPN program yesterday with an 85.3% composite score. I thought this was a good score (91st percentile) but now I see how high everyone elses are...yikes!
