Just wanted to see if we had any other OCC students here!!
Just started my pre-req's on Monday!
I just started as a nursing student at OCC in January. I'm at Alexian Bros Hospital in Elk Grove. I really like clinicals. I've only had positive experiences with my patients and staff.
I like the OCC program. Fortunately I don't work. You'll think NUR 103 is a breeze until you get to NUR 104. A lot of paperwork, tests, being signed off on labs (shots, wound care, etc). After 12 weeks in you may start to feel overwhelemed but you'll be OK.
Two of my friends got into the Fall session too. I'm really excited for them.
Good luck! Let me know if you have any questions!
Congrats!I highly recommend the program. Most of our class passed NCLEX @ 75 ques. and have yet to hear of anyone having to take the test more than once.
You may have your clinicals at a number of facilities. You will receive a listing of the clinical sites by section. Your name will be in a fishbowl and when it is called you will select which section has the locations you are interested in. This willl happen each semester, at registration. Some of the hospitals we were at were Shriners, Childrens Memorial, Res. Medical center, Lutheran, Alexian Bros, Evanston Northwestern, Sts. Mary and Elizabeth, Westlakes, St. Joseph's and many nursing homes. I am currently interviewing for L&D positions. I will persue my bachelors in a few years, because I would like to have an income for a while.
I thought you were going into the dialysis field. You couldn't stay away from those dialyzers in clinical.
Hi everyone...newb here and this is my first post
Has anyone taken BIO 131 with Carr or Anderson? I know how difficult this course is, so I'm hoping to sign up with a great anat professor. I've heard great things about them both and don't know who to sign up for? Anyone have any input about either of them and how difficult and demanding the classes were...
No, I had Zencek. Go to www.ratemyprofessor.com and see what other OCC students have said. I have other recommendations if you're going to take other classes. Let me know.....

Wow! What a ton of classes. OCC actually let you take 17 summer hours? I'm surprised. Are you trying to get into the nursing program?
I haven't heard of any of those professors. I've only take mat 102 (with an Indian lady) and nutrition (with Dr. Collins) in the summer. I saved the hard one for the full 16 weeks!
