Anyone going to CSN this semester?

Published

I will be starting my prereq's at CSN this semester and was curious if anyone here would be as well. I am really excited but also nervous since the only classes I have ever had were DE. It is kinda hard to come to terms with starting over since I was in my 3rd year of BA business but the passion was never there and why should I throw more good money after bad lol. Anyways, any Moms or Dad's on here with small children going to school full time? I would love to stay in touch with some of you...my children are under 7 and I am a Mommy to 4! my oldest being 6 and my youngest two are 10 months. Here are the classes I am taking:

BIo189/189L

PSY 101

PHIL 101

SOC 102

Art160

I really hope that I am not biting off more than I can chew lol. Anyways, can't wait to hear from ya'll.

Just keep up with the reading! I am currently in the program (Starting 2nd semester).

Focus on getting the points for BIOL 224 (after you finish BIOL 189 and 223) for the application for nursing school. Communications is also a very easy class to take to get the points for the admission to nursing school!

Make sure to keep a great GPA in the pre-req classes. Focus more on BIOL 189 than the rest this semester!

Another tip:

COM 215 is a lot easier than COM 101 in my opinion. No speeches, just a group assignment.

Good luck! :-)

Wow, is that just for one semester?! I'm starting FT nursing school in a week..eek! I also have 2 kids (5 and 3). I'm thankful my hubbys is around a lot to help! Make sure, if you can, to find a good study group for 189! forgot to add that I too switched majors, just shy of my Bachelors! I have about 5 or 6 classes left to get my BA in Psychology. I might get it after I finish nursing school, who knows!

Hey yeah I was taking the equivalent of 16 credits online via 11 week courses so I figure I should be ok...of course at that point I only had two kiddos so that is a bit of a concern but I am 29 and it is time to get my rear in gear lol. What made you decide to switch majors Sun? Congrats on starting nursing school everyone...where are y'all attending. I am thinking I should be able to transfer to NSC or UNLV by this time next year. Any advice as far as planning out semesters? This semester I just picked classes that were required to move forward but without english/math requirements or prereq's. I have quite a few credits that will transfer but my old school is holding my transcripts hostage since I owe some money to them (long story). Is the statistics class specific to health care or is it just a stats class? I have taken Eng 101, Com 101, Soc 101, College Algebra, Microeconomics. So most of the classes I will have to take are the Bio 223/224 251 and the Chemistry then there is the Eng lit and us/Nevada constitution of course. Any recommendations would be greatly accepted :)

What Chem do you have to take? I decided against Nursing and am taking Chem 110 so I can apply to the CLS program and I have been trying to figure out who else has to take that class. Way back when I went to college the first time, the equivalent of that Chem 110-111 sequence was required as part of the pre-nursing track.

I'm going to csn west charleston and cheyenne campus. If your good at distance education courses then maybe your workload isnt so bad since you are already so disciplined to studying on your own. But I have a 3.6 gpa and with all the things i have heard about biol 189, i wouldnt dare take too many classes with it. This semester I am taking bio189 and math 100b. Gonna take A&p1 in the summer at nsc. I just stay positive and keep looking towards the future.

The Chem I believe I have to take is 110 or 111 to satisfy CSN, NSC and UNLV prereq's however the degree program for the AS says any Chem class will do. Hope that helps. If you go to the CSN webpage you can go into the course catalog and it should show you what degree programs require what...they start on Pg 46 http://csn.edu/PDFFiles/Admissions/Schedules/CSN_10-11_Catalog.pdf from what I can tell at a glance an Associates in Art (general, art, anthropology...) want atleast 2 classes in physical sciences. So that definitely includes your Chem 110-111. Good luck in your classes!

Thanks. I was kind of curious who would be in the class with me (as in what intended majors). Your info helps.

I am taking chem 110 and Psc 101 (distance) this term. Four kids 12 and under and I am already tired every day without taking any classes, and my husband travels for work a lot (one of the reasons I decided against nursing). This should be interesting!

mmt4,

I say you can do anything you put your mind to :) I'll be rootin' for ya...School starts tomorrow!!! Good luck girl!

I am currently taking microbiology and after that I will have all my pre-requisites for the full-time nursing program. Definitely focus on Bio 189 as it is the one you need to move onto Bio223 and Bio251. I have a 2 year old little girl and work full time so I kind of understand how you feel. . . minus 3 kids, lol

im confused....are you going into the nursing program? bc you dont need chem for CSN...you just need Biol 189 and 223, Eng 101, Math 100b or 120, and Psy 101. Plus Com 101, Psc 101 or 2 history classes, and Soc 101....so i would skip the chem if i were you lol..IMO
