Last year there were a ton of people talking about Calhoun & this year, not so much. Anyone out there starting this fall?
I've heard that the uniforms are changing from a current student that talked with the Director of Nursing. I've also heard they are changing in the spring. I know you wear your uniform for skill check-offs on campus, but I don't know about wearing them to class. I was going to go ahead & buy my uniform, but now I'm waiting until after orientation to make sure I don't buy the wrong color.
The clinical sites vary and one does not get to choose where one wants to go. You do have a Saturday option and a day thru the week as well. But it all depends on the demand for Saturday! Its been a great experience for myself as far as Saturday clinicals go, the class has had a Saturday clinical since 2nd semester. Evening program is great for those of us who work. I love it, b/c it fits so well into my schedule. yes it would be helpful if you had your syllabus on the night of orientation, but don't get tore up about it, it wil be okay.. My advice about getting your books and syllabus is that you don't need to wait til the last minute to get them, sometimes they run out and then you may have to wait a week or so before you can get them. However, I understand about the grant and financial aid situtations as well. As far as the # of the course I just signed up for whatever they told me, I have no idea what # course I am taking right now. I just know that I am currently taking OB/PEDS, so whatever that # is.... I couldn't tell ya! LOL. Study. Study . Study!
Oh and I forgot to respond about the question about the tests: You watch lectures online and have the option of printing them out as well as the outline of notes from the lectures. Reading the book is a must as well. The questions come from the lectures as well as the book. Hope this helps!
Pharmacology book and Fundamentals book & study guide and the syllabus, we used all the books that was listed. I bought the planner but I am not that great of an organzier and am not using it! So that was a waste for me, but for others it may come in handy to help u stay organized. One thing I learned is that not all of the books are listed for the entire program so be ready to fork out some money as you progress thru the program. And buy all the study guides new and not used, b/c some of the chapters are missing and those are the ones that u will have to turn in... and don't think that you can use someone elses and make a copy of what u will need cause they will not accept it, its just a money making thing anyway.
And as far as the new uniforms and having to wear them to class, as this will be a blessing as some people have no idea what a mirror is!:lol2:
Hey for all of you that have already gone to orientation, do u know the assignments will be posted? i understood them to say we had some due on the first day of class? ALSO how strict do yall think the instructors are going to be on the "white shoes" i bought some nike shox a while ago with a tad of silver and im afraid i will get in trouble the first day of class...dont wana make a bad impression...?
In my evening orientation, the specifically mentioned no Shox. I'm not sure when they will post assignments, I figure maybe around the 18th because most people on financial aid can't get their books before then. I know from looking at the old assignments, it looks like it's mostly reading that is due on the first day. Do we have to wear our uniforms on the first day of class if we have them? I know told us they would give us a deadline that we HAD to have them by.
Are ya'll buying the box of books?
