Last year there were a ton of people talking about Calhoun & this year, not so much. Anyone out there starting this fall?

I'm applying as a transfer student. I'm trying to get more information about the program. If I get in I will be driving an hour both ways. So if you have any more info, please share it!
I don't know anything about entering as a transfer student. Have you already started nursing classes?? I have a friend that had to drop out due to her husband's health and she has to pass a theory/pharm/skills check off again before they will let her pick back up with the program in January.

I am already in the program at Calhoun...
VS Blonde, How did u get my email address?
It's real easy, you click on the envelope underneath your name & it sends you an email *voila*. Sorry I made the mistake of sending you a message, you had replied on here somewhere that made it sound like you didn't get into the program and I was just looking for anyone who might have gotten in this year. My bad.
Okay, so I have to admit I have been looking at this site since February and have not joined until now. I too applied to Calhoun for the part time evening program and received my letter today. I was not accepted. The points cutoff was 167. I had 162! Oh well! I can try again next fall and hopefully will get in. Good luck to all of you. :)
Nursefarmgirl would you tell us about the program? Are you in the day or evening program? What semester are you in? Also, what should we expect?
Initially, I was not accepted... then about 5-6 days after I received my rejection letter, the secretary called me and they had a spot open! Apparently you can apply for both the day & evening programs and some people do this and that is why I didn't get accepted to begin with... b/c of the amt of applicants, once they decided which program they wanted after applying for both to see if they would get in they obviously had to drop one.... so here I am today! I am in the evening program and am loving it! First few semesters require Tuesday nites from 4-8 or 430-730 depending on the semester then once you get in the 200's you will move to Thursday evenings. Clinicals dont start til 2nd semester of the program. It is a fast paced self motivating program that requires self discipline and online lectures. I am loving it. One must have high speed internet available and ample time to devote to studying.
Nursefarmgirl..I would love to get in the evening program! Where & when do you do your clinical? I was told that there's an option for Saturday clinicals! Do you know where Saturday clinical for Nur 105 was held at? And what class are you currently in? Also, in the evening program are they straight by the book & class notes? I'm asking because the last program I was in I always had of feeling of being tricked. I use to look at the test & be like we didn't cover this. Please explain & share much info as possible. Thanks!
Thank you for your reply . I'm in the evening program and I'm so excited. I'm extremely motivated and I'll do whatever I have to do to pass. Do find that the teachers are helpful? I didn't get in last year, but I also made the mistake of only applying to one program. That's awesome that you got in. I got accepted to Wallace also and I made sure to return my letter ASAP so someone else could have my spot. They just didn't have the "evening" aspect of nursing that I need since I'm the breadwinner in my family.
Clinicals are supposed to be evenings & Saturdays when they have clinical space I think. There are several different clinical sites at all the hospitals in the area, HH, Crestwood, Parkway, DGH.
Nursefarmgirl~ did you have your nursing syllabus for orientation? I called the bookstore, but they aren't sure if they will have them by Aug 2.
