Anyone goin for SDSU School of Nursing?

Published

Heyyy everyone! I've been goin to these forums on and off since the past few months, and I'm finally making my first post, haha. Anyway, I'll be applying for the BSN/RN program at San Diego State Univeristy this fall for the Fall 09 semester. I was just looking at the point system and Jesus christ--I found out that the cut off for last year was 67 points out of a possible 77. This is just pushing me more to shoot for no less than A's in all the pre-req classes at MiraCosta Community College I'm takin right now.

So anyone else shooting for SDSU?! :w00t:

I am applying in Fall 09 too :) I really hope that i would get in! How many points are you going for?

Well now that I know that I need as many points that I can possible get...I'm shooting for 70. And that's getting mostly all A's in pre-reqs and volunteer work. I have no idea what to expect for the TEAS test so I'm hoping for at least 10-ish out of 15 points for that. I'm so nervous and really stressing out so these next few semesters are going to be crazy. Glad I still live with my parents so I only work 2 or 3 days each week, HAH.

Yeah, my semester is crazy too..What have you taken so far? I have human physiology II, o-chem, sociology, and communication.. I need to get all A's in those classes! Going for 70 sounds good. Good Luck!!!

Do you know how many points O-chem is worth? 10 or 4 because I didnt add up to 77..???

I dont know how to count for TEAS...what percentage do we need to get to get 15?

So far I have taken Statistics, Soc 101, Psyc 101, Bio 101. Right now I'm taking Anatomy (I guess my school is weird I just have to do a semester of anatomy and a semester of physiology then it counts as API/APII or whatever it is for everyone else..), Comm 101, English 100, and Spanish 102. Well I hope you know about their program changes for 2008 and on! They now only have 1 category of chem and it's "Integraded Chem + Lab" and that's 4 points for an A. Take a look at their point system here http://nursing.sdsu.edu/miscfiles/BS-Program-Changes.pdf

And for how they calculate points for TEAS, they haven't told us yet---I guess they're still figuring it out because it's new to SDSU or something

So when do they offer TEAS test? and how often? Since I live in reno, do i have to fly down there and take it?

What are your grades in those classes? I have B in Micro and general bio..other than that i got an A so far. :)

One more thing, is intergrated chem is the same as O-chem? My school doesnt offer intergrated chem.. :(

I know SDSU offered the TEAS test last semester, but they haven't put it up anything regarding taking it this semester. There is another local university close to me that offers it, so you might want to check out universities close to you that probably offer it. In those classes that I already took I got all A's :) I'm scared of micro bio!! Was it really hard?

Oh and for the chem requirements, I would go here: https://sunspot.sdsu.edu/pubred/!tap.disp One of the links will show you equivalent classes of your college to SDSU's. (Like Chem 100+Lab at SDSU wwould be the same as Chem101+Chem102 at my school).

Microbiolgy is not my favorite! But I am sure that you will be fine!

Yeah, i checked the tap thing but i guess they have no comparable courses so i have to have the school evaluate my transcript so hopefully that o-chem would count!

Are you applying to other schools at all? I am thinking that have a second option avaliable is a good idea.

I'm shooting for low 70-ish too. When do they come out with a cut off point? Also, does anybody know how they calculate the TEAS test? I am taking mine in a couplw weeks, and I am NERVOUS!

does anyone know what the cut off was for spring 09??

The chem course, though a prereq, isn't given any point value. The other science courses are 10pts max while the rest (psych, soc, oral comm.) are worth a max of 4 each.

I only took the TEAS once and got an 84.9% and I doubt it'll get any higher if I retake it since my English and grammar skills fail :( Hope that is enough to get the majority of the 15 possible points though.
