Anyone go to Laboure College?

U.S.A. Massachusetts

Published

Hi, I was wondering if anyone has gone to or currently attends Laboure College? I just got accepted for Fall 2005 and just wanted to hear anything you have to say about the program! Thanks! :)

Well like for the Anatomy course there is only one teacher that teaches the lab and she also teaches the lab. She makes up the lecture exams but, for the lab someone else makes it up. In class all she says is she (meaning the lab teacher) might do this but, im not sure. Well i like to do this im not sure if she like's to ask these questions on the lab practicle. It's not that she deny's help but, sometimes she can get angry or should I say aggravated with you for not understanding what she is trying to explain. I know that this college but shouldn't there be someone that you can go to if you have a problem or do not understand something? Did you get accepted yet and did they tell you when you will begin your career courses? I got accepted in September of 05 and started in January of 06. They didnt tell me up to a couple of weeks before classes started that it was unlikely for me to be able to start my career courses before 09.

Well, it does sound that she isn't that great a teacher. There is no such thing as a dumb question. If you ask her for help she should either help or point you in the right direction to get it from someone else. I was told today at an information session that if you get all your general eds done, and have a high gpa you can move to the top of the list to start the professional courses. I have many courses from when I attended college the first time, and should be able to complete all the general eds by September 2008. If I can't get a firm commitment from them on this I will go to Quincy college. I found out that I can get things done and get into Quincy for January 2009. I have to say so far Laboure has been on top of my admissions and the information session I went to was quite good. Have you finished all the general eds? If you have and they are telling you 2009, I definitely don't want to go there. They told me that there will be no gap if you complete the core courses. I will find out more tomorrow.

If there willing to take your credits you probably can start your career courses soo. This is the first college that I ever attended im 19. The only gen eds I have left are micro, a&p 2, and psy 2.

I talked to admissions today, and they pretty much assured me that when you get your gen eds done you will move up the list. I am hoping this happens for you. I am also applying to Quincy College, but found I won't be able to start career courses till Jan 09, but I think I can get things in place at Laboure for Sept 08. Since the career courses at Laboure that is 1/2 year shorter than Quincy. I have to admit I like the feel of Laboure better than Quincy. It feels small and focused, while Quincy seems a little more high school like. It is all gonna depend on how fast I can get in and out. I wish you much luck and hope it gets better there for you.

I would advise to look up the cost of the tuition on their web site first:

$495 per credit General Education Courses and HCOP Courses

$540 per credit Professional Education Courses.

That's for 2007-2008.

That's about 45% up for the last three years. This is a private school and the waiting list is pretty long, so as long as they have a waiting list the tuition cost with continue to increase every year.

You need 71 credits to graduate.

Well I decided to go to Quincy college instead. They will take most of my credits from my previous degree. I will start the Nursing program a little later than Laboure (January 2009), but I will save almost 10 thousand dollars. I really liked the admissions people over at Laboure, but I had to take too many courses over there.

"Tuition is billed as a flat rate for all Allied Health Programs for each semester."

So, it does not matter how many credits they will transfer from your previous school, the tuition cost will be the same.

If you decided to start the program later, you should also compare you current salary against you salary as an RN and calculate how much you will lose . Besides, the tuition cost will go up every year, so the later you start, the more you will pay for the program.

Plz everyone if you have a choice on what schools to attend DO NOT GO TO LABOURE!!!! This school is terrible, the administration and advisers all tell you different things. All they want is your money there is no one to help you your basically on your own over here. Many students fail Anatomy because the teacher is very old and she's at the point where she just doesn't care. Also must I add that many of the students do not receive any financial aid except loans!!!! Im trying to get my self out of here!!!!

A lot from what you've written above is true, but you can't fail your Anatomy class just because "the teacher is old". Besides, there are two or three teachers there. I took it with Dr. Yong, she is great! Those who study hard will pass it (Ask me how do I know).

I DON'T KNOW HOW TO STRESS THIS DO DO NOT GO TO LABOURE!!! I HAVE BEEN THERE SINCE 2004 THINKING THAT IT WOULD BE FASTER TO GET MY RN INSTEAD OF BSN. WRONG I AM REGRETING THAT CHOICE FOR THE PAST4 YEARS LET ME LIST THE ISSUES FOR YOU

  • THEY LET ANYONE IN
  • THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT YOU AS A STUDENT
  • THEY DON'T REALIZE THAT 85%OF THE PEOPLE THERE HAVE KIDS AND JOBS
  • ALL THEY WANT IS MONEY
  • THE HCOP CLASSES ARE JUST A WAY TO STALL PPL SO THAT YOU CAN'T START CLINICALS
  • IF YOU TALK 2 THE RIGHT PPL YOU CAN GE WHAT YOU WANT CLICKY
  • NO ONE CARES IF YOU PASS OR FAIL

I AM HAPPY THAT I AM GOING TO GET THE HELL OUT OF HERE... THEY ARE INSENSITIVE, RUDE AND EVEN GOOD PEOPLE THAT WORK THERE ARE HELPLESS AND THEY CAN'T DO ANYTHING. NO FINANCIAL AID NOT ENOUGH CLINICALS . SOO MUCH MONEY IT HAS GONE UP EVERY YEAR! PLEASE UNLESS YOU ARE LIKE 18 DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME GET YOUR BSN LABOURE NEEDS TO REVAMP THEIR SYSTEM BECAUSE IT IS NOT WORKING I MET A GIRL WHO HAS BEEN THERE FOR 8 YEARS IT IS SUPPOSE TO BE A 2 YEAR SCHOOL WHICH IT WILL NEVER BE

DO NOT DO IT I HAVE WASTED 3 YEARS I AM LUCKY BECAUSE I WENT ALL YEAR AND TOOK THE MAXIMUM AMOUNT OF CLASSES:angryfire:angryfire:angryfire:angryfire:angryfire

Well, I am going to Quincy College's part time program in January 2009. They accepted most of my previous work, so it is going to be a lot cheaper than Laboure. I really was tempted to go to Laboure, but not having a guarantee that I could start my clinicals really bothered me. There are no BSN part time programs around that I can find so I am going for the associates. I already have a BA in Psychology. Sorry to hear of your trials and tribulations at Laboure. I hope it doesn't stop you from becoming a nurse! Thanks again.

You Can Go For Your Bsn Part Time Go To Simmons They Have A Great Program Quincy Has A Low Hiring Rate

I just graduated from Quincy College and all of my classmates are working. Myself and another classmate work at BI, another works at Childrens in the cardiac ICU, and another works at Mass General. In all its tough for new grads to land jobs regardless of the program they attend. There are so many nursing schools in the area and only a limited amount of new grad positions. Being a BSN grad does help if you want to work in the city.
