Anyone go to Laboure College?

Published

Hi, I was wondering if anyone has gone to or currently attends Laboure College? I just got accepted for Fall 2005 and just wanted to hear anything you have to say about the program! Thanks! :)

hi! i'm new on here....i am attending laboure college this semester. i started in the fall 2005 semester as well. you must have the same clinical issues that i do?? i have no idea when i will be able to start my clinicals because they let to many students into the program. i will be done with all of my other courses this summer, so it's very frustrating!!!! i hope to hear from you!! :) best of luck at school!:wink2:

Hi!

I've have heard mostly negatives about Laboure. Mostly administrative problems, and disorganization re: class selections..miscommunication which lead to students being delayed a year or so from graduating. I'm not sure their rate of passing the NCLEX is all too high either. Thing is, I'm biased since I overheard one of my classmates who had been at Laboure complaining about it..hence she switched to another program in Worcester.

Sorry...

It's a small school, with smaller facilities the only thing going for them is their affiliation with the Caritas Carney, but that's not saying much.

Good luck hopefully you'll have a better experience there. Tell us how it goes..

Laboure sucks I have been there since 2003 and Iwouldn't recommend it to my worst enemy!!!!! It's unorganized and the teachers are not help ful neither are the staff especially if you're in the evening program.

i am a nursing student at laboure college... the waitlist to be accepted into the nursing itself is quite long. but they are already working on it. the passing rate of nclex exams of laboure for 2005 is 80% which is about average. waitlist is about a year. program takes two years.

but what i like about the school is that its a small community. i can approach the administrators on a first name basis. there are no surprise additions on the tuition.

if you can give yourself three & half years, then this school is ok for you.

Yes it's a small community based school but when you approach the staff there with real problems they have no answers of any means to help you. If there is somewhere that's cheaper please consider it

i'm attending laboure.... laboure is very challenging i mean ridicously challenging.... expecting students who have great medical knowledges.... if you can go to 4 yr program do so..then you can through and fully understand everything...instead of trying to squeeze everything in such a short time...

Does anyone know what the waiting list is like for the evening program? I just applied.

This gentlemen went to Laboure. I think he has a lot of guts at his age, and being a hospital CEO making 6 figures a year. It shows that he did something he wanted to do, because he wanted to be a nurse.

Here is a link to the article.

That was an interesting article! Thank You. I just got a letter saying that they are accepting applications for the summer session of 2007. I am still wondering how long it will be before I can start clinicals there if I get accepted. I am applying to the evening program and am not in a terrible rush. I just need part-time. I guess I will try to get a firm answer if I get accepted.

Plz everyone if you have a choice on what schools to attend DO NOT GO TO LABOURE!!!! This school is terrible, the administration and advisers all tell you different things. All they want is your money there is no one to help you your basically on your own over here. Many students fail Anatomy because the teacher is very old and she's at the point where she just doesn't care. Also must I add that many of the students do not receive any financial aid except loans!!!! Im trying to get my self out of here!!!!

Yikes, that doesn't sound very good. They used to have a very good reputation. I still think it is the one I will end up at, they all have horror stories, but I think I can get started there faster. I have had my share of horrible teachers in the past, but managed to squeeze through. I may take the Excelsior college test in A& P so I won't have to go to class. Laboure is great in that they let you do this. When people here write and say that the teachers and administrators at Laboure, "don't help you," can you all be more specific? Give some examples. I have been to several colleges and don't really remember asking for any kind of help. What is it you are looking for that they deny you? Just curious. More specifics would be very helpful for those of us who might attend.
