Wanted to see if anyone else is nervous/excited to start this fall!

I am!!! And I am sooo excited and nervous!! I have to start working on the packet that you have to do before school starts and that REALLY freaked me out!!!! shots, cpr, drug tests!!! and shots!!!! :crying2: But I am soooo excited to be in the program and finally get STARTED!!!! YAY! :yeah:

I am sooo excited too!!! I have read my packet a hundred times and I just turned in everything last thursday. I had to have a titer pulled since I could not find ANY records of vaccines! Have you checked out the syllabus yet? It made me more excited and scared!!!

A titer?? what is that?? oh how I need to know because I have no clue where my immunization records are... and that is really stressing me out! and where did you find the syllabus? I can't wait to find out what my schedule will be like... do you know when we will find that out? I am a late applicant, I just got admitted last week, so I am totally feeling the time crunch and out of the loop a bit and I am finishing up A&P II... which... is kicking my butt!!!! LOL

It is good that you posted this... hopefully others will see it as well!

A titer is blood test to check your level of immunization for MMR (measles, mumps and rubella). It was kinda a rat race, I had to have my doc sign the order to have it pulled. It took about a week to get results. I got an email saying I was enrolled in nursing 106 and the syllabus was on blackboard. Check your email and peoplesoft account, it might already be on there. I hear you on A&P, glad mine is all done! Are you going to the med term. workshop that is on the Tues. before orientation?

thanks on the titer information... just for your own giggles... i called the nursing program coordinator today and asked what a "titter" was... she got a very good giggle out of this... oopsie!!! lmao!!! :lol2:

totally understand the rat race part... i feel like that might have ended just once i got my application turned in... but oh was i wrong!!!!

also, when i called today, i was asking about being enrolled in nursing 106, which i wasn't. so hopefully that will be cleared up and i will get to see my syllabus... so excited!!! :D does it tell you your hours?? that is what i am very worried about, what my schedule will be like.

i am thinking about doing the med terms... i haven't done anything like that before... so prob would be good for me. i just have to take care of childcare.

so... do you know anyone else? i know one guy... but really don't know him... just a friend of a friend. i totally feel like a freshman starting high school!!! ;)

It looks like class on mon tues and wens from 830 to 215p. Clinicals begin around first of September. I am not sure on this but you might get to request a clinical time on tues and wens. That's funny about the titer. When I asked my doc recep. if he could write the order, she said "A what???? A titter???" so don't feel alone:)

I am doing the med term. I took the class a few years back and a refresher can't hurt me. The packet said "highly recommend" I think and since its only ten bucks what the heck! I don't really know anyone else, just a lady that my husband works with daughter, but I haven't met her. Do you have a long commute to school? I live past etown and I have bout a hour and twenty min drive. Hoping to find someone to carpool with:D

OMG! I just scanned through the syllabus! I am SUPER EXCITED! That is awesome how they have everything laid out for you! I love a scheduled plan! I am such a geek when it comes to things like that! LOL

That commute sounds yuk! I hope you find a commuting partner. FYI -- 1st day of school -- arrive early!! Because everybody downtown will be fighting for the parking lot. There will be people there that show up @ 7:30 just to get a parking spot. I have young children and will just be paying to park the first few days/weeks if I don't get there soon enough. And don't forget you also get fight downtown traffic of everyone going to work in the same place at the same time!!! :uhoh3:

thanks for the "titter" story... does make me feel better! LOL :lol2:

let me know if you find/see anything else that I need to pay attention to. I am an awful skimmer, and I usually skim rather than read completely. even though I am going to try and make myself read ALL of that info... OVERWHELMING!

Oh thank you so much for the heads up on the parking! I use to live in Lexington so I understand the hassle of parking. But to be honest, I haven't even thought about the parking in Louisville.

I also was very excited to see the typed out schedule! I can not wait! I will let you know if I find anything else out and good luck getting all your paperwork together!!!

OK... so I am now working on getting my books. Have you done this yet? I am going to try and buy them online to save $$$. And to charge them b/c they are going to cost me a fortune!!!! Have any advice?

I am going to get mine thru the bookstore with my financial aid and I can't do that until Aug 5th. Have you checked out amazon.com? There is an offer for students to get prime (free shipping) on amazon! All you need is your student email address. I was shocked with cost of the books but its my understanding these books are used thru the whole two years. Hope this helps:)

Have you worked on the math workshop questions? I need to start working on it....

Hey folks,

I am not in JCTC for the fall semester but I plan on transferring for next fall and had a couple questions if you all wouldn't mind. I am in Henderson right now and got accepted to the Spring 2011 class, but I REALLY REALLY love Louisville and want to move this fall. I would imagine the competition is a lot harder in Louisville than it is here since we're such a small place. If anyone would mind to share what their stats were they got accepted with I would be so grateful. I don't want to give up a spot here if I would have a slim chance at making it in at Louisville. We aren't required to take the PAX here, so I have no idea how competitive I am but I think I will do well on the PAX. Any input would be awesome. You can PM me if you don't want to share publicly. Thanks!
