So I have failed a clinical class in my BSN program and have been dropped from my program in Northern California. I am finding that some schools will not take transfers if you have failed a clinical course. Has anyone been in this situation in the SF Bay Area? Did you have success finding a school that would accept you? I'm primarily looking for schools in the East Bay, City, North Bay area.
If you weren't able to transfer, what were you able to do with your classes? I was only three months away from graduation. I failed Peds but completed OB. Only had Community, Leadership and Precepting to go.

I failed a clinical 3 months from graduating as well. I had to start all over from the beginning at a different school They have my transcripts but I'm not sure they know that I failed out. Just finished the first year (again) and no one ever mentioned my previous program, so either they don't care or they don't know.
Good luck finding a school to transfer into. I did not have luck with that. It may be possible if you feel like your last school will give you a good recommendation, but I knew that mine wouldn't so I didn't even try that route. I had conflicts with several instructors, including the head of the program who was an egotistical psycho, so there was no saving my credits from there. I knew she would make up stories to tell the new school and then I would have no chance at getting in. It was better to just apply as a fresh start and do it over again. Sucks, but it is also a good refresher and I'd rather be studying right now in this economy and getting some clinical time than sitting an home unemployed or working as CNA with an RN degree. Many of my former class mates haven't worked in a year, some not at all since graduating in June 2008. There are no jobs here and no new grad programs.
Let us know how it goes. It sucks to get kicked out, but it happens to many people for whatever reason, and life does go on...although it may not seem that way right now. I totally understand, believe me. You are not alone.
good luck.

I was wondering, have you considered reapplying for the program you were dropped from? At least then, you could just start where you left off instead of having to retake all of those classes all over again.
A coworker was dropped from her program, reapplied and was accepted the next year.
Good luck!

Wow. I didn't know you could be kicked out for failing a clinical... Was it the placement or the subject that you crashed in?
I'm in Australia and I've failed one clinical subject (respiratory) twice. I got distinctions in all the lab work (as in, simulation labs) and theory (the exam, assignment etc) and passed all my clinical skills better than anyone else in my group. However, I failed my clinical placement (twice) for poor professional 'behaviour' (basically I was "too confident" - keeping in mind that for everyone else in my group it was their very first clinical experience ever, most of them didn't speak english as a first language and were very shy).
I haven't been kicked out and I'm able to go on and do the next clinical subject next semester.
