I took the NCLEX today and it was the worst experience of my life. It was soooo hard. I had about 10 select all that apply, about 5 questions on the same disease that I didn't know what it was. And the priority questions....It shut off at 85, but I heard that 10 of those might be sample q's or something? Everyone keeps saying, Oh, you passed if it stopped at 85. But anyone FAIL w/ 85?

Hey, I took the NCLEX RN, not PN, but mine stopped at the minimum number too and out of my friends that have tested there are about 8 that got the minimum (75 for RN) and there was only one person of those 8 that failed, so I think usually people pass with the minimum, but it's impossible to know for sure. I am sure I didn't pass, but I have to wait till Fri to hear it officially. I think you probably did fine though, I am just negative about myself and my test today......most people do seem to pass with the minimum.....keep us posted.

I took the NCLEX-PN yesterday 07/25...And I feel sooo overwhelmed, I mean I had about 5 or 6 select all, 1 I &O calculation (weird, huh)and different types of questions....But what's driving me crazy, is that I cannot decipher if the questions were hard or easy? My test stopped at 85 questions, but I fellas though the reason it stopped, was because I SUCKED really bad...I don't know what to think:madface:

I took the NCLEX this afternoon. I usually do very well on tests and can come away with a pretty good idea of where I stand....but not with the NCLEX!
I've never felt so horrible in my life!!! I drove the 75 miles back home in a daze....disappointed in myself and wondering how I was going to explain it to my family (who think that I am actually intelligent) and to my employer who has faith in me and is counting the days until they can put me into action.
And here I sit...online....looking up information on how & when to apply for a retake the NCLEX and praying that the information I found about CAT tests is actually true and I may have actually "passed" that darned test!

Hooterhorse--Where in WI are you? What school did you go to?
I'm in WI, too. Waukesha area. Also, which NCLEX did you take: RN or PN?
I took the NCLEX-PN. I live in Janesville, WI and am in the BTC Associate degree nursing program. After completing the first year we are eligable to sit for the PN state boards.
After yesterday's experience....not sure if I want to go back to school next month!
They told us yesterday that our results will be online later this afternoon...so I suppose I will find out soon enough if I passed. Could sure use a few prayers if anyone out there has any to share!

Hey guys, listen up!
You are all in what I'm now calling the Pre-Freak Mode, that is the period of time between taking the test and finding out the results. Hence, freaking out prematurely :)
Seriously, the odds are greatly in your favor for passing at this point. Somewhere between 81 and 86% of new test takers will PASS (the lower stat was from last year, so far, this year, it's higher).
So, it does look good for you! Take a little time to browse around this forum and you'll see LOTS of the same pre-freak outs, MINE included, LOL....I totally understand.
Getting the minimum number means you did well or poorly. And by 'poorly', I mean that you weren't even in the ballpark. If you were close, it'd keep giving you questions. If you were above passing range (and you'd be SHOCKED at how many ARE but don't have a clue, they think they failed)...the test doesn't bother to give you more, and you'll pass. If you've truly prepared for the thing, studied, learned lab values and side effects and can critically think, the odds are considerably in your favor :)
Ditto to what RNs2BRwe said!!
We've all been there with the "Pre-Freak Mode", and soon enough, all of you will be joining the rest of us who are now in the "Post-Freak Mode"....but not freaking out anymore.
Good luck to those waiting to test & or get their results.
RNsRWe - I know you are right. I just keep thinking about the questions that should have been so obvious to me, and I am thinking of the answers that I put. And I know you have to do really bad to fail, but how embarrassing that will be if I fail and have to admit it to my family and friends. If my dream job weren't riding on this test, it might not be so bad either!
Thanks for the + words...it does help.
Well, then it was the "critical thinking" questions that saved my butt...because I had never heard of those drugs and wasn't that well versed in the lab values they had for examples!
I took the test on 7/26/06 at 11:45am and discovered that I was issued a license number on the BON website at about 2:30pm on 7/27/06! Pearson website still hasn't posted my results though. But my employer checked to see if I was "legal to practice" and truly had a license.... sure enough I am!
So my employer called back five minutes later and asked me to work tomorrow...gee...me and my big mouth. There goes my three day weekend...
Jean & Houdini ...freaking episode resolved!
