I am working on my prerequisites for the practical nursing program. I finished math and am currently taking college chemistry and it is so hard! I need to pass with 75% in order to be accepted in the practical nursing program. So far it looks like I will pass with 75% but it will be so close to failing if I get under 75%. I am so nervous!

Tell me about it .. I'm currently taking chemistry right now and I just had a quiz last week regarding sig figs and rounding sig figs and the whole thing with 768.8 x 10^14 power .. i actually get the rules of sig figs but idk why I blank out when I'm about to take a quiz .. i got a 7 out of 15 😠... and we are just starting the semester .. I'm nervous too!! And I don't know why lol... I passed biology with an A and the lab with flying colors again an A .. but idk for some reason chemistry is getting me more worried... but I guess the only option is to give it our 110% make flash cards .. make up our own quizzes.. I've been using khan academy to get more practice..

It is meant to be hard. "Hard" is not a reason to quit or not do well. You need to stop worrying about how hard it is and just go STUDY. When I did chem I and II I lived in the library. I am not some super smart dude, but I will out work everyone. You have a limited time in life to accomplish what you want. Put max effort into it and you do it. Don't accept 75s. And in nursing school they WONT accept "75". It is mentality. Hard..Not hard...makes NO difference. You must do it to be a nurse. So..DO IT or DON'T DO IT. Totally up to you. If it was easy everyone would be a nurse.
Yeah, I have been making flash cards, etc and doing lots of studying! I am glad I took math first because there is a lot of math involved in Chemistry! It's very complex, lots of problem solving mixed with science. I will check out Khan academy, I heard that it's really helpful! :)
I have been studying a lot actually! I really enjoy studying and put all my effort into it. I took Math first and got 84% for that. I have been doing really good with the Chemistry and am almost done, but now I am into Organic Chemistry which is so complex and I just took a quiz on it and it was 10 pages long and it took me 3 hours to finish it! I am hoping I got a good grade. So far I am averaging at 82%. I just have one more assignment to write involving oxidation and then after that I write my final exam which is around 150 questions! I can't wait to get Chemistry done and start Biology next. I really enjoy Biology. :)

I took chemistry in high school and it didn't click in my head, so I resolved that I just didn't get it. When took Chem 105 at community college I felt good during class but then that first quiz I got a bit stumped and went into full panic mode "this is high school all over again". Don't think of Chemistry math, it's entirely it's own discipline that just uses some math to get from point A to point B. Read the chapters before lectures. Go to any extra study sessions (my instructor was great she did am extra hour before each lecture for review/practice). Also YouTube whatever topic you're covering as there are some great lectures from very gifted teachers out there. The alternative approach can help if you're struggling With what you've been given so far. Keep at it!

I needed to hear this today. You have no idea how much.... I had Chem in high school and it stumped me a bit. I'm taking it as a pre req now, and I totally freaked out earlier "it's high school all over again". Thank you for your words of encouragement :)
