Searching through this forum for Downey Adult school's LVN program, there is really no information given. So I was wondering if anyone has any info on this school and if there are any pre-requisites(excluding the fundamental nursing course) one has to take to get into the program for example, cna classes? or previous working experience in the medical field? etc.

How are the Downey Attendees doing?

I am looking at this school for next year.

THANKS IN ADVANCE!

so how is the prgram so far?

Specializes in Emergency Department.

Is this school expensive? Does this school offer a payment plan or do they have financial aid? Thanks!

I graduate in June 2010, do you know when I should sign up for the orientation dates?

to domarera: the school is inexpensive and there is financial aid available

Hi LilMy,

I was considering the LVN program from downey adult school starting in May 2011. I have a few questions for you since you graduated from that school. I want to know, where do you do your clinicals? How soon after finishing the program do you take the state exam? and how soon after can you start working? How do you like this LVN career?

Thanks

I am currently in the program right now. I graduate Dec. 2011. the June 2010 was from high school, but orientations are being held now until March 17, 2011.

to mariatere: well it's ones choice to decide when one wants to take the state exam after graduating. Alot of previous students have told us to take it right away, just study for a time and take it because it takes a few months for the license to come. Clinicals are done in different places but they are mostly around the area.

Hi MissCre,

I want to know what happens in the pre-vn course (i think i was told it last 5 weeks, right?). I will be taking the exam on the 17 of March with my sister. I have been actively going to school and not worried about the basic math and basic english test, but my sister has not gone to school since she graduated from high school in 1999. Can you give me an idea on the english and mathe exam. Is it multiple choice, do you have to write an essay, in the math are we allow calculators, what kind of math, are there any fractions? I want to help her study so she does good and gets invited to the pre-vn program.

Thanks in advance

Thank you LilMy for taking the time to respond. Good Luck with the program. I have a question. Has any student ever gotten sick during clinicals that you have seen? How do you survive this wonderful world, especially when you have never been exposed to it (ex: poop, pee, vomit, etc).

I would appreaciate any replies. I am scared that i will run out of a room, or that I will become one more patient .

Thanks

Hi Maria I will be taking my test on the 16th good luck to the both of us!!!

So did you get in? I did! Now I just need to pass the pre-vn class... Does anyone have some tips to make it to the final round?
