Anyone have any experiences with Downey Adult School in OC ?

Published

Searching through this forum for Downey Adult school's LVN program, there is really no information given. So I was wondering if anyone has any info on this school and if there are any pre-requisites(excluding the fundamental nursing course) one has to take to get into the program for example, cna classes? or previous working experience in the medical field? etc.

My sister and I did not get in :crying2:. Im glad u did. Good Luck with the pre-vn.

I will try again next year or try the cna course

I'm so sorry! :footinmouth: good luck! There are other schools too...

So did you get in? I did! Now I just need to pass the pre-vn class... Does anyone have some tips to make it to the final round?

Hi Savnlivz: I will give Downey Adult School another try this year to see if I can make it to the LVN program starting in January 2012.

I wanted to ask you, since I know that you are halfway done with the LVN program, how do you like it? Are you glad you went this route or do you wish, you could have done something differently? Is the pre-vn class (a cna class)? the reason I ask is because I took the cna class and I already have my license, so im wondering if I have to take the pre-vn if I pass their entrance exam?

Please tell me all about your experience. I am eager to know all about it.

Is anyone almost done completing this program is it complicated and how r the schedule that is one thing that worries me because I work from 3 to 9 pm and can't afford to miss work either.

Hi patgon23,

I took the cna course with the American Red Cross in Commerce, CA. I paid $1,400.00 (they gave me 2 uniforms, books, stethoscope, and spygmomanometer).

I took the class with ------, she was great. She went way beyond the CNA teaching, she tought us alot of LVN duties, and during clinincals, we got to experience LVN duties such as observe treatment for elderly with horrible bed sores, while in isolation room.

I passed my state exam:). It was a great feeling.

I wish you luck.

Sorry for the late response. I attended their program a few years ago and decided to help out anyone thinking about going.

You might be able to get buy in the pre-VN classes but afterward it might be a little harder. Clinicals usually ran till about 445 and Lecture ran till about 3.

I'll be checking this thread more often to try and get any questions out of the way.

I am about to take the exam and the orientation this Friday, 2/3. I will keep you posted.

Neeko,

I took the exam this past Friday and there are 4 parts to it: language, math, applied mathematics and english grammar. The only part I choked on was the applied mathamatics. If I was you, I would study the metric system (they will ask you to convert things) and changing temps from Celcius to Degrees. On that part of the exam, you have 35 questions but only 30 mins to complete it. I had to guess the last 5 questions because I was about to run out of time.
