I'm considering taking my A&P 1 course online. Dallas Community College (El Centro and DallasTele College) give that option. You can take A&P 1 and 2 and Chemistry online. This will be my second time taking the A&P class but it will be my first time taking the class where lec/labs are completely online. Anyone ever went this route? If so, how did it go? How did you do the labs?

Are you 100% sure that the nursing program will accept an online A&P class? I know our school has very strict rules about this and I would hate for you to take them and then find out the program will not accept them.
Best of luck to you!!!!!!

I took chem on line and it was fun. They sent me a lab packet and I did the experiments at my kitchen table. Lighting the hydrogen on fire after separating water was particularly fun--my kids loved it.

A&P is a very difficult, involved subject. Are you sure you want to do that online? I couldn't imagine trying to take any science course without direct interaction with an instructor. I would think about this some more before signing up for this online class!

I took Physiology online (we had to go in for lab, though). I did well, but I don't recommend it. It was really hard. In fact, it was so hard, when I was offered the opportunity to start RN classes 2 semesters early by going online, I said "no".
I honestly don't know how you can take chemistry or anatomy online. How can you do labs?

I am taking A&P II online right now. I really don't like it at all. I think the difficulty level is about the same as an in-class format, but there is no way to ask for clarification if something is worded strangely on a power point slide, etc. The professor seems nice enough, but will sometimes take a full week to email me back with answers to my questions.
We do simulated labs from a CD. I think they are just as useful as in-person labs.
I am a self-directed person, so it is not difficult for me to study, complete assignments, or turn in labs, but this has been an issue for others taking the class. If you have the opportunity to take this class on campus, I would really recommend that over online. But if you need the class and the only way you can take it is online, then go for it - just stay motivated and don't fall behind.

I have taken classes online before. Usually I don't learn as much from them. There is just something about not actually being in the room surrounded by other students questions and hands on experience. A&P is the most informative and useful class I have ever taken (and I have a bachelors degree already). I would not give up the experience of actually learning all that I could for anything. It was definately hard, but my favorite ever!

I have taken 2 A&P classes online and think there are advantages & disadvantages. I have signed up for my third & last A&P class on-line as well. I would have to say that it seems just as hard being on-line as an inperson class & you don't have the luxury of asking questions right then & there. One advantage is that you can have your books & everything right there with you when you take tests, etc. but it seems to me that they make the tests even harder because they know that. I put 110%into these classes & only got B's & I studied every spare minute I had. On one hand, It was nice though because you could sit in your jammies on the weekend & listen to lectures on the computer & we got a CD to do our lab with - I think I learned as much from the lab CD as going in person to lab because it was very good & fun too. You have to be very disciplined though to take it on-line. If you think you may like it, try one & see. It is nice that it cuts down on travel time to & from class, etc.
How can you do dissections from a computer? That was the best part of either class!
