Anyone Ever take Micro with Physio before?

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Hey everyone,

I spoke with a counselor and was advised to take Anatomy with Chemistry in the Fall and Health Microbiology with Physiology in the Spring. I know doubling up on science class will be very time consuming but I don't plan on taking any other classes so I think I'll be able to handle it. Any advice? Has anyone ever done this before?

Thanks!

Hey! I'm taking A&P II and Chem 101 this fall and Micro along with Physics in the spring......Yikes!!! It'll be tough, but well worth it in the end!:wink2: .....Good luck to you!

I have only A&P 2 and Chemistry left and I am seperating them, and not taking them together. I personally wouldn't do it but thats me.

I took micro with physiology and got As in both. I worked super hard and was studying like all of the time but it can be done. I was also taking two other classes and labs. Good luck!

I won't take micro. until next semester I think, and that will be my 2nd semester of nursing school... So go figure.

I did take anatomy, physiology, and chemistry all in the same semester (last semester).. Some stuff covered in chemistry was relevant to physiology, but nothing major. Anatomy and physiology complemented each other, although they were very hard classes.

I was advised by my "smart" friends not to take anatomy and chemistry the same semester because it would be too much. But I did anyway, and threw in physiology, which was harder than anatomy, and an writing class.. And an optional 1 hour a week physiology discussion group!! A lot of class, and my hardest semester by far (my 2nd year of school).. But go figure, I made the best grades of my college career that semester.. 2 A's and 3 B's...

Umm.. That was just me rambling.. Truth is, doesn't really matter when you take them, as long as you can handle the load.. The important thing is that you retain what you learn and make good grades.. So good luck.

I also want to double up on my science classes, but I have been advised not to. People tell me how hard and time consuming science classes are. But I don't want to be taking pre-req's forever. I have all of my other pre-req's and co-req's completed. I just have science classes left to complete. I am so happy to hear that it can be done! I never took lab before so I don't really know what to expect. But if I double up it will only put me ahead by one semester. Do you think that it's worth it?

Some people can double up and some can't. I'm taking A&P II and Chem plus chem lab this semester. I am purposely taking 3/4 of my classes via internet. I see it as a time-saver. Why shlep to class, wait, do busy work, blah blah blah sit there and listen to dumb questions...blah blah.

Just get to the studying straight away. No drive time and wasted time in class. This is me. If you are self-disciplined and like figuring things out on your own it may work for you.

It can be done! I actually just finished my finals in my A&PII and Micro classes a couple of days ago. I took them together during the summer in 8 weeks. Yeah I know that sounds crazy but I did well in both. I do have a 10 month old daughter that I didn't get to spend too much time with and a husband as well but I just kept telling myself that it would only be 8 weeks. Now I'm done. I can just relax (until I have to take Pharmacology in the Fall), spend time with my husband and baby, and wait for that almighty acceptance letter! Good luck.

Last semester I took A&P and Micro together, and it actually wasn't too bad. Ended up with a B in both of them, so I was happy. Good luck!

I took Micro and Phys at the same time. I also took Soc and a Math. The math was self-paced and I didn't finish it on time. I was also a mom to a 2 and 4 year old and going through a separation at the time, sold my house and moved. I got an A in Soc and B's in both Micro and Phys. So, if I could do it, you can do it! I probably could have gotten A's in Micro and Phys if my personal life wasn't so crazy at the time!

Good luck!

It definately can be done. I took A & P II & Micro over summer in the 5 week course both with labs. I studied more in that 5 weeks than my entire life, but I did it and managed an A in A & P II and a B in Micro (almost got an A but my test anxiety took over and ended up bombing my final!) And I am also taking history online so was writing history papers in there as well (the history was 10 weeks, finals this week) So it was some major stress, but boy am I glad it is done forever!!!! Anything is possible if you put your mind to it! Good luck!

Thanks for all the responses - very encouraging. I don't plan on taking any other classes with Micro & Physio so I'm confident I'll have enough study time for both. I have a daughter who's 4 and she'll be in preschool during the day which will make the house very quiet. :)

My main concern was that I needed to know Micro before Physio or vice versa. So many people have said different things, but I think if I get A's in both Anatomy & Chemistry this semester I'll be well equipped for Micro & Physio in the Spring. Here's to hoping!

Thank you again everyone for all your responses!
