As a new grad, I have seen some scary nurse-patient ratio's. Does anyone ever feel like they could loose there license working under such conditions? And if so how do you deal with it? I worked very hard to get my license, as did everyone else, and I don't want to loose it :o The hospital setting seems to be a very scary place sometime's! Should have become a hygenist, better pay and less stress, :chuckle lol

That's why I am glad to be out of where I formerly worked.

Their nurse:patient ratio, on a very busy Med/Surg floor, was always 1:11.

There are now, I hear, doing "primary nursing" on eight to nine patients..............:uhoh3:

No, Thank you.

I feel like its in jeopardy all the time...... Thats why I chart very decriptively and concisely about my patient care...... So much stuff out there can backfire on you in nursing. :(

you are absolutely right to be concerned....the pt deserves more than this...i have seen family members and pts stressed out because of level of care but staff was doing the best that they could do under the circumstances..look around for another area that you will feel secure in...i hate to tell someone to abandon ship because you are needed where you are but if you lose your license or hae to spend time and money when you are sued you will not be there for future patients....in the mean time listen to previous posts and chart all you can... in two years if some lawyer is taking a deposition you will not remember the things that you have done...

I felt that way once before, and I got out of that job as soon as I could.

I have been a nurse for many years. Still, I sometimes feel like my license is in jeopardy. That's why I always make sure I have . :)

What about being over worked, over tiered, doing something stupid, and having the board take your license away?
