Boy did things work out wrong for me here:uhoh3: . I am afraid that I wont get into the BSN program in the fall . I am completing a sequence of reqired math ,that will end with algebra during summer II. I have all the other required pre classes out of the way (61 hours) EXCEPT for stats. I know this is a needed course and is absolutly required before research in the 3rd semester. The school is telling me that I will now be to have approval from the higher beings (the dean) before they will accept me. I can complete it at my CC during the semester prior to the 3rd semester. Has anyone been admitted to a BSN program without having stats completed first. I will be entering into a LVN to BSN program. Or I can do the unimaginabe, which will probably completly take me out and that is algebra and stats together:sofahider ....LAWD. Advise anyone
 :smackingf This is in the wrong forum...Can the powers that be move it to the general student nursing forum!!! I feel like a fool...

I didn't have stats before I entered, but I will have to take it before I graduate (I'm currently semester 3/5 of a BSN program). It wasn't a pre-req for our program, but a co-req. If I could have worked it out, I'd have taken it beforehand anyway though - just way too hectic to try to fit it into my schedule with the nursing courses (already in class 40h or so a week)!
Good luck! :)

Next semester I will be taking Calculus and Stats. I have to have them before being accepted to the BSN program.

I am in the ADN program and to transfer to the BSN program, we do need stats beforehand.
are you good at math? If not, i wouldn't risk taking the 2 math's together. Good luck!!! YOu've been a nurse for awhile, hopefully they'll work iwth you.
Well, the school has progressed with processing my application. They have mailed my reference forms out to my references. If they were not considering me; I would think they wouldn't waste the time. I did talk to a girl that goes there and she said that several people she knows are lacking stats. I will just hope for the best and I have also applied at a community college. I will be happy to get in anywhere!!!:)

Good luck to you! I hope this works out for you this way, 'cuz I DO NOT recommend taking Algebra and Stats together. You really need to be solid in Algebra before starting Stats.
I agree with you and dont even know what possessed me to say something like taking algebra and stats together.. thats crazy...

I did not have algebra or stats. Was accepted into BSN program in spite of it.
Algebra was waived and am taking stats now.
I did have tons of stats and research in a field other than math but they required it from the math dept -- so much of this is same material covered by other course work...

I would definately take the stats before nursing school. It is better to take it with algebra than with 18 hours of nursing credits and clinicals on top of it. You will be so glad you got it over with.

It is integrated into our BSN program. As a matter of fact, I need to take it this summer.
Wish me luck!
