Anyone enrolled in Del mar eline ADN?

I will be finishing the program this DEC.!! Yeah! I currently live one hour from cc and have to commute for all of my clinicals to cc. I do not think there are any hospitals near you that are affiliated..?? I know, it sucks!!! If you talk with the clinical coordinator, Frances Zapata, she might be able to cluster your days and you could stay at a hotel in cc..? Just a thought. Good luck. Oh, and by the way, I think the program is great. It is a challenge being on your own, you definitely have to be motivated and actually want to learn the material in order to succeed. What level are you?

Congrats! I am working on completing my pre reqs for this program. Will also have to commute for the clinical. Clustering sounds good. How many days per week for how many weeks (clinicals)?

Are the theory online classes taken one at a time?

How are the test proctored?

Is the program difficult to get into?

Sorry for all the questions, I've been looking for someone to question about this program that has completed it.

Thanks for any info you will share.

Clinicals are at the end of each level (4 Levels). They range in length from 80hrs-200hrs total with each different level. As of now, they limit you to 24 hrs a week (2-12hr shifts). I do think, however, that if you are coming from out of town they will allow more hours a week and possibly consecutive shifts. It just depends on your preceptors work schedule. As for the tests, you will take multiple online (untimed) quizes and tests. You will also take a HESI exam (at the school) at the end of each clinical rotation with each level. This is timed and includes NCLEX style questions pertaining to the covered information in each level. On to acceptance. The program has been growing significantly, meaning it continues to have more and more applicants. I got in on my first application in spring 2006. It is really important to do well on your entrance HESI and to of course have a good GPA with your pre-reqs. I am not sure of the current acceptance/unacceptance ratio. You could, as I did, call the Dept. of Nursing and ask how many people have applied and how many will be accepted. I think I covered all of your Q's, but if not just ask again. Best of luck. Also, just to throw it out there, doing this program online is VERY challenging. There will be many ups and downs. Many times of feeling very alone, scared, and at times just stupid.... You just have to keep picking yourself up and pushing forward! If it were easy to become a nurse, there wouldn't be this massive shortage of them. Just make sure it is in your heart and you will succeed!!!

Hello all going to Del Mar ADN Internet program. I graduated from this school in 1986 as an LPN with an associates degree. I know off topic, but wanted to reiterate what a great school this is, and yes they work you hard and expect one to act like a nurse!! I was voted Most outstanding Student in 1986 and also was invited to join Phi Theta Kappa.

I'm telling you this not to brag , but to let you know about all the confidence this school and program helped me to achieve. I love the hospitals in CC and I know there are many more now than way back then. I worked for Spohn Hospital in the Cath Lab, and Spohn gave me a grant to go back to school.

Congratulations and best wishes to all of you. You will be great nurses.

I'm graduating from the TAMUCC eLine program in December and I'm glad you pointed out this the program is challenging. Sometimes I feel like people underestimate the program because it is online. Nursing school is very demanding and challenging no matter how you do it.

For all of you who are interested, please keep in mind that you may have to do your clinicals in the Corpus area so if you do not live in that area you will have to travel for about 900 hours of clinicals. TAMUCC has some sites outside of the Corpus area, but I don't believe Del Mar does (correct me if I'm wrong)

Enrollment in the program is becoming more and more competitive, especially at Del Mar. However, I don't believe it is as hard to get in as most of the on-campus programs. Good luck to all of you.

It does not surprise me the learrning acquity needed to pass this program. The nurses that come out of this program are awesome. Good Luck to all of you. The surrounding smaller cities surrounding Corpus were very small hospitals as I remember. Have they grown out of the city as well?

I don't think any online nursing program would be "easy". I'm sure you all are working your butts off, along with your LTC clinicals,and hospital clinicals.

Tawilla, first congratulations on your graduation this December! I know it has been challenging. I love taking distance courses, but I think to remove the stigma of this being Disneyland School as my husband refers to it.. they make classes extra hard. I just applied to TAMCC's Generic BSN through Eline. How long did it take before you received a decision? Also, I am in California now while my husband takes on a temporary work assignment, however, we own a home in Houston. Am willing to take clinicals anywhere including corpus since a plane trip will be needed each time.

I was wondering how much time you spent in Clinicals each month. Also, I need to fufill the Texas History component of my gen ed's will they let take this concurrently with the program, I have even already taken pathophysilogy. Also, I am hoping to begin this spring, however, just got my transcripts off yesterday, sent online app on thanksgiving. Do they have concrete start dates for the eline program. Please advise.

I was accepted into the program in 2004 and I knew I was accepted within a couple of months of submitting all of my paperwork. I really don't have the most current information about the enrollment process since I'm graduating. You will have to complete all of the pre-reqs before being accepted, so you need to get the history class completed. The good thing is they enroll students more frequently than on campus programs, it used to be every other month but I don't know what it is now. They may grant you enrollment pending that class and then you can start as soon as you complete it and turn in your transcript.

As far as the clinicals, for each rotation you have a set amount of hours to complete. There is not a set schedule. Basically you work whatever schedule your preceptor works.
