Anyone else do this while studying?

I'll be watching a video on youtube and repeat everything the guy is saying as hes saying it to get it into my subconscious. Wonder if that works, probably as I'm hearing it 'twice' rather than just once.

Whatcha think?

I sorta do the same thing, except w/ flash cards. I keep memorizing them out loud until they become secondary nature,

Hey, what ever works for you. Just make sure the info in the youtube video is "legit". Any fool can make a video and educate the masses ;)

I've heard that it's helpful to use as many learning methods as possible to engrain information into your memory. So by using visualization by watching the video, auditory learning by listening to the video and listening to yourself repeat the information, and actually saying outloud the information you are trying to remember, you're using more methods as opposed to just silently watching the video, which means you will be more likely to remember the information. Does that make sense?

You definitely want to make sure that the videos you are watching are credible and that your grades show evidence of effective learning. But it sounds to me like you've got a great learning method worked out! Good luck :nurse:

I play ATI and Youtube (legit) videos while folding laundry, cooking, whatever. I figure SOMETHING will seep into my brain. I don't have time to SIT and read/study, so I sneak in what I can. I haven't failed anything yet, and still have a 3.6GPA. Working for me!

I read my texts aloud to study. I made it to senior year so its working for me so far.... along with study groups and studying ahead of time and more than once

I think talking aloud helps a lot. I recorded the med-surg lectures. I could never pay attention in class...put me in a class of 30-some people and I cannot pay attention for the life of me, but once I upload the lecture on itunes and am comfortable and alone, I can sit there and listen to it and repeat what's said and remember everything that's said.

I practically do the same, except it's usually with index cards as well. I definitely feel this is the best studying tactic for me and it's what I tend to stick to. I think it works - I mean, think about how easy it is for us to memorize a song we hear and like? After a few times, we pretty much know it by heart. Keep doing what you're doing if it works best for you. :)

ATI is the best thing that ever happened to me in nursing school! I keep them loaded on my ipod then play it thru the ipod radio in my house while I clean up every morning and then listen when I am in the car alone! It seeps in there for me. Even been guilty of sleeping with the ipod head phones to pack it in even more! :D

I start the program at the end of this month, so I've never heard of ATI. What is it and how do I gain access?
