Is there anyone else out there who is currently studying for the CCRN exam and would like to start a thread as perhaps a study and support group? I have just applied for the exam and have not yet set a date, but about in 3 months is when I will be taking it. I would love to be in communication with others in the same boat! I hope there is at least one other nurse out there! Thanks!

I am going to review pulm tommorrow and take the Dennison 150 test...I'll post how bad I stink at it tommorrow.....:uhoh21::uhoh21::uhoh21: I love the CD I wish there were more available. That is the only way I studied for the NCLEX.

Ditto, haha - I never looked at any review books for the nclex; i just did tons of computer review questions

What are the best books to get to study for the ccrn? i would prefer to get one that had cd's with them, so I could answer questions on the computer. Any suggestions

Dennisons PASS CCRN has a REALLY good CD - the book is so so. I'd get the thing for the software - used if possible

Critical Care Examination Review Revised, 3rd Edition by Gasparis is an excellent book filled just with questions and their rationals, broken down into body systems.

Hey guys! How is studying going? How is work going for our fellow CCRNers? I have started studying every night again. I just did the Dennison 150 point test for the first time...and I got 70.666%....I think that counts as 71% ;) That makes me feel just ok, I would like to pass with a little breathing room!! I'm not gonna post the individual system scores, cuz some of them are just embarrassing!! Although I did do the test while I was watching FRIENDS on tv :)

Hopefully work is going good...any interesting pts?

P.S. I just realized my Gasparis book has gathered some dust, since I am mostly using the Dennison CD...I love it!

I took the 150 point test today and got 55%. Yuck. I am working on the Gasparis book tonight. I love the Dennison CD's. I have done the quizes so much that I am starting to see some of the same questions, so I thought I would do something different for a day or two. I am going to take the AACN one online next thursday. Then I will be 5 days out from my test and will see how things go and what i need to work on over the weekend and on Monday...I will have a duck if I fail this test...AAAAGGGGGHHHHHH:angryfire. Thanks for everyone's suggestions. I am so much more competative with myself than with anyone else around me. I want this for ME.:uhoh3::uhoh3:

if you're starting to hit the same questions on dennison. Its a ton of questions from a different perspective.

Hi Everybody!! Good going...don't worry those scores will certainly pick up. There is plenty of time. I think you are all right on track....

I had an interesting pt with a high sodium...that the Doc ordered 0.45% NS to correct, and you know how Dr Laura says, no "I'm not giving that fluid today, maybe I'll give it tomorrow, but not today..." Well, as the Doc was ordering those fluids, I said, this is not going to work, and those words from Dr Laura went through my head and guess what? It certainly didn't work. His Na was 153 at 2230 and at 0430 it was still 153, after 500ccs 0f 0.45% NS bolus plus 100ccs/hr. Didn't budge it one little bit!! I am soooo frustrated with myself, I wish I were as ballsey as Dr Laura!! hehehe Anyway, then D5 was ordered, and that won't work either!! Will it???!!! I won't be able to find out either....

:o:o:odang it, I just want some validation!! I think the guy needs NS? What do you think?

Do you know anyone that has studied from these cards? I am going to take these to work (less obtrusive than a CCRN book) but I don't want to be studying a bunch of information I don't need to study. There seems to be alot of info on IABP which is great...but for the test? I like the simple way they put things.

I am also going to show it to our Nurse Educator. It is a great site for different things for hemodynamics (the only part I have got through so far):uhoh3:

No idea...all I know is I've gone through the gasparis stuff, so i'm looking for more cardiac and pulm stuff. Even if those specific questions aren't on the test i'm hoping that it will improve my overall understanding of the systems and therefore my ability to answer the questions.
