Anyone else still waiting on Acceptance/Rejections to FNP?

Published

Sigh...I feel like I've been waiting forever on word, even though it's really not been all that LONG...I'm on wait week 4.5 for University of Cincinnati, and week number 3 for Simmons College. Both are for FNP programs...I was denied from Georgetown after 2.5 wks of waiting...sigh...so who else is waiting, no matter what school you applied to?

From my understanding the welcome call just explains all the different areas of the Nursing@Simmons website and who to contact for what. We are assigned a financial aid person, student support person, and of course your enrollment rep. They accidentally put me in the Jan bridge cohort...so mistakes can happen...i even took the "foundations" course on 2SN (the online school platform you use as a student) for Jan before i even realized the mistake. they corrected it though as soon as i brought to their attention. I emailed --- today about the stats class thing and haven't gotten a response so maybe he either isn't in yet today or out??? he usually answers me within a few hours.

Ohhh okay, good to know. I received another email from fasfa to file my loan for the 2014-2015 season. Hmmm!!! Did you hear from -- today? I did not.

oh yeah i got automatic emails from FASFA, I thought you meant from Simmons themselves for loans....anyway, I don't know if it were me, I would get him on the phone, ask what date specifically did it go through the first review, and that you were told 4-6 wks for review and it's going on twice that long so you want him to check into it.

Oh I got the financial aid webinar invites directly from Simmons and already attended that. I just happened to receive an email from FASFA yesterday as well.

ahhh yeah I don't think I got any of those, but it's probably because I am using my GI bill, and really already turned in everything for financial aide so maybe that is just for brand new students or contemplating students.

Anyone have any info on the statistics refresher? I've been told if accepted I will need to take stats. Took it in 2001

Straighterline or Universal are your only options right now. Both suck! not what I'd call a refresher at all. Saylor.org has the exact stats that straighterline uses only its FREE and I'm working on getting them to accept that one too. It's the only condition I have to meet for my acceptance as well.

Online College Courses That Fit Into Your Degree Program | StraighterLine this is the Straighterline and it's Introduction to Statistics ($99 1 mo fee + $25 class fee)- must be done within 28 days or you will be charged another $99 for another month...

Online Course: Applied Statistics 101 - Certificate and CEUs - Universal Applied Statistics is $70.00 , however a lot of the students are complaining that the "assignments" and "readings" do NOT match the quizzes and most are stuck on unit 11 and can't get past it right now (a few have been working on this for about 1-2 months already)

I have asked the school to look at MA121: Introduction to Statistics « Saylor.org – Free Online Courses Built by Professors which is the EXACT same course as Straighterlines' class and includes a final exam and it's FREE!!! They are checking with the director to see if it can be accepted. Makes no sense to pay for SL when you can get the exact class online for free =( in my opinion. I'm gonna bug them this week about a decision as I need to get this done in order to Start my classes in March.

Please update us on Strayer. I didn't see Simmons mentioned as an approved college on the straight line website

you aren't taking it as a "credit bearing" course, its being taken as a refersher only, and you must pass the final exam. They aren't applying it as a GPA/grade, just pass/fail in order to start the program.
