Sigh...I feel like I've been waiting forever on word, even though it's really not been all that LONG...I'm on wait week 4.5 for University of Cincinnati, and week number 3 for Simmons College. Both are for FNP programs...I was denied from Georgetown after 2.5 wks of waiting...sigh...so who else is waiting, no matter what school you applied to?
Tasha
I applied to three schools, Pitt, UPenn and Penn State. I really want and brick and mortar school, and they all have awesome reputations. I used the same three recommendations for each school, and will be taking the GRE this Friday. I kind of regret applying to only three, because all three are a long shot, but now I just have to wait and see :/
The wait it SO hard. Especially since Simmons said we will hear back within 4-6 weeks.. And I am going on to week 11. AHHH! I just want to know already. And I had my application in very early!! First week in November.. and people who passed theirs in later have already found out for the March Cohert. I want to know whats going on with my app.
Did they give you a reason it's taking so long? I'd be calling my rep 2 times a week...I was told your app is looked at in the order received unless it's missing something.

Nope, I never get a reason.. just that my application is still in the second admissions process. But it has been for weeks and weeks now. I submitted my app Nov. 4th and on Nov 8th they emailed me and said they have received all necessary requirements for my application and it is now under review. 2 months later and I am still waiting longer then people who submitted their apps much later than I am. I am so confused!!

I have friend that has been waiting for about 4 wks now...her stuff was accepted the 10th of December, however, two weeks later they asked her for another recommender as one of hers didn't provide enough info. Then they were out Xmas Eve, Xmas Day, New Years eve and day, and then had like 3 days back to back of bad weather/snow days...so really that's like 2 wks off her wait time. She just talked to her enrollment advisor on the phone last night (same one I had) and he told her it was through the first review and currently in second review, and to expect another 3 wks. So I"m thinking if I was you I'd ask what date it specifically went through the first review, and when or if the second review has even started yet. I know they had a bunch of applicants and a lot were for the Jan start date (Jan 20 they start) so maybe why it's taking longer now for the March people to be notified. I have ONLY seen people on Facebook state they were recently accepted who had applied to Jan...only 15 of us on the FB group page for the March cohort so far and most all are part timers too.
Perhaps something was missing or if you had some really old credits, they do verify through the school you took them at (they made my friend send in her syllabus for her old stats class) to determine if they meet eligibility guidelines. She was already told by D.H. that if she is accepted he can already say without doubt she will need that statistics refresher course (almost all of us are taking it anyway) as a condition of acceptance.
That's such good advice, Tasha! I'll email and see how long ago the second reviewer has had my application. I would like to know soon so I can start planning for the future. Cause if I do need statistics, I want to take it now!!
Yea i'd make sure he realizes that you have been waiting on word for 10wks and that you were told 4-6wks when applying. And ask what if anything is holding up the process (someone on vacation?, verifying your credits earned etc) taht could potentially be taking so much longer than others who have stated they applied and been notified already.

One other thing, you mentioned you did the financial aid webinar...I haven't even done that and I've been accepted since November LOL...i think someone somewhere dropped the ball with your app. i'd be on it everyday to get my answer. It would be really bad if you were supposed to be in the bridge program that started in Jan in order to start you nursing classes in march. if that is the case i'm not sure if they would push off your nursing classes to the May cohort or allow you to take both together/??
No matter how many times I email and ask if there is anything I can do he says everything is all set. Have you received any emails to sign up for the financial aid webinar? because thats why i signed up for it. Does everyone have to take the bridge program? what classes because statistics are you taking? I would hate to wait to May, haha. I am so impatient and want to start already!
The only people who have to take a bridge course are those who have really old sciences or lower sciences gpa that i've seen. I only have to take Statistics, all my sciences are fairly recent and my sciences gpa was high. I did take stats last year but I barely squeaked by with a C so that is why it's part of my acceptance. Did you make aware that you had been waiting 10wks? lordy i hope they didn't confuse you with someone else! It just seems too weird, i've not heard of ANYONE waiting that long so far....I did not get any email invitation to a financial aid webinar...i'm scheduled to do my welcome call with student support finally and I need to contact financial aid anyway because i'll be utilizing the remainder of my GI bill. that's about it for me. I have begun the stats course but it is UBER boring me to death, and im' waiting for them to approve a FREE stats refresher course because it's exactly the same one that straigherline offers for $74. i can't see spending that kind of money on the exact class that offered for free lol...so waiting on that approval righ tnow!
I definitely do let -- know how long its been. I start off every email with "Just checking in, it's been 9 weeks.." "Its been 10 weeks...". He probably cannot wait til I hear a decision so he doesnt have to hear from me anymore, hah. I forget what I had in statistics... Probably a C+/B-. It wasnt my favorite course. All of my sciences have been done in the past 5 years or so. I emailed him earlier.. so far no response. I have had dreams they mixed me up with someone else.. oh man!! I sure hope not. My name is so different, how could they? haha. But its weird you havent received finanical aid webinar invites and I have. What do you have to do on the welcome call?

A lot of my programs used the nursing common app, which is great since you can resuse recommendations on there.
For the others I just used the same people mainly and tried to switch it around so each person did no more than 5 recs.
