Howdy!

Anyone else out there getting ready to start Traditional Program @ OCCC?

I can't wait for orientation next week! I'm nervous and ready for AUG 20th. It sounds like the new building will be finished, so maybe we will get to move into a bigger lecture room. I hope. My kiddos start school that same day, so that should be a crazy week.

Thought I'd say Hi and see if any classmates were here.

Good Luck to All! :p

Hey guys! I am going to apply for Spring '10 I have to wait til the summer to start A & P 1  Did you (whoever is already in the program) already complete all the science courses or can you be currently enrolled in some of those classes and apply (and still get points for them)?? Anyways, hopefully some of us will start together....:nurse:

Well Katy, I just got accepted yesterday with 16 pts, 3.15 gpa and #3 on the alternates list. I have completed all my pre-reqs and it took me 4 semesters to do so, with work and all. I know the next deadline to have everything turned in is dec. 17th and then they will surely grab more alternates. It is better to have all your pre-reqs done as the nursing phases will be hard enough. Gosh, I am so excited.....=) It seems it has been a long time getting here but I see now it is well worth it.

Did you get accepted into the regular 2-year program?

Yes, I got accepted into the 2-year traditional program and I feel like I just won the lottery. =)

I am applying to the accelerated course as well...

So I'm not getting in with a 3.0 retentive and 10 preference points, am I?

Who knows, I know a chick that is in NP2 right now and said that it was extremly easy for her to get in and that they were taking alot of people, so who knows.

Hi:

I have 15 points with an approximate 3. gpa. Is this reasonable to get admitted? The deadline for Fall '09 is early April. Does anyone know how long it takes to find out if you were accepted or not.

I was #3 on the alternate list with a 3.2 gpa and 16 pts., and I got in. I would say that they usually take 1-10 alternates, that is about how many can't start for whatever reasons.

Thanks for your reply. How is the program going for you? What unit are you in now?

What do you think of the instructors, overall quality of the program and basic expectations required?

Well, I just went to orientation. I start theory classes next tues. and thur. with the lab the following week. We had 72 in the class with them taking a #10 alternate. That means you can get around 16 pts and get in with around a 3.0 gpa. Shoot for at least 16 pts. and a 3.0. The instructors seem ok but it is not going to be easy. Just time consuming and alot of reading and organization. The tests are going to be a little different as well. They said just read, read, and read and stay about 3 days ahead. =) Good luck to you.......
