Anyone else on LVN wait list!!!

Published

Is there anyone else on an LVN wait list??? I am #85 and I wil be starting in August 2009 and the waiting is driving me crazy!!! I just recently found this thread for LVN/LPNs and everyone is either in nursing school right now or getting ready to start soon and I want to start now so badly. I was just wondering if anyone else was going throught the same thing.:o:o:o

What school are you going to?

What school are you going to?

I will be attending Antelope Valley Community College for the LVN program in August 2009!!! and I will also attend Antelope Valley Comunity College in the Spring 2008 for a biology and a General Psy101 because in order to take the second semester of the LVN program I have these two classes completed. What school are you going to attend?:nurse::nurse::monkeydance::monkeydance:Nurses Rock!!!

are you willing to wait that long??? that is pretty long wait for the LPN program. you could already do your RN program with that wait but i do not know how it is there in your area? what about trying other schools??? you may want to inquire about some of the private ones?? i don't know about your financial situation so please consider other LPN schools in your area.

also, are you planning to eventually become an RN? if so, you may want to do your RN pre-requesites already while waiting for your LPN school.

there is no waiting list for my LPN school here in New Jersey but I had to take an entrance test and they accept who ever pass it. 400 people took it in my batch and only about thirty students were accepted. i am now a senior in my 15-month LPN program so few more months and i will be done.

Good luck with nursing school.

Is this to say that over 400 people took the exam and only 30 passed?? Wow...that is scary. Good luck...you are almost done!

Thanks Pagandeva. Yes about 400 people took it. The nursing coordinator told us that only those who pass are accepted. She said most people fail the math section. There are two parts, one where you supply your own answer and the second is multiple choice. I didn't think it was that hard but maybe people just forget the basic math expecially when they have not been in school for so long. Also, my school has been number one in NJ meaning we always get 100 percent passing rate and the tuition is not that expensive either, $3000 more or less for everything.

Actually, I already tried to recruit 3 of my coworkers at a dialysis clinic to do the LPN program as well but all of them unfortunately failed it. Now, I told them to take the test again for the February 2008 class. This time, I recruited 3 more people so 6 of them will be taking the test. I hope all of them make it. So I dunno...I guess I just got lucky

Yup almost done! Yay!!

Thanks for the advice. The reason why I am waiting is because my CC is cheaper then private colleges and I am in school right now and I already have a student loan out and I really do think I will be able to take out another one to pay for a private college. And yes I am going to become an RN after I finish LVN Nursing school and get my license because my CC offers LVN to RN porgram, as soon as I graduate from the LVN program and pass my boards my CC will credit me 2 semesters of the RN program and all I have to do is take and pass the third semester of the RN porgram and pass the RN boards and I am a Registered Nurse. This is a faster way in becoming a Nurse because if I went straight for the RN program I would have to take 7 to 8 classes before I can even put my name on the RN wait list which is about 1 to 2 year wait. That means that it would be about 3 to 4 years before I can start the RN program.I want to become a Nurse Now and not later so that is why I am willing to wait till August 2009. :nurse::nurse::monkeydance::monkeydance:

I know Palmdale is a ways to travel, but have you considered any of the other community colleges? Perhaps you could get into one of these sooner. Just so long as your car could handle the miles. That is such a long wait in front of you. If that is the best you can do, then by all means, take RN prerequisites and also take prerequisites for BSN programs. Put the time to some kind of good use. Also, if you aren't already a CNA, you could get your CNA certificate and possibly start to work so you get some patient care experience. Good luck to you. Glad you are at least on a waiting list!

In the meantime definitely take as many pre-reqs for your BSN as possible. It will be good brain training for when you start the program and put you way ahead of the game after you graduate with your LVN. Good luck, Jules

Thanks that is some great advice, how long does it take to become a CNA? I think I might consider doing that why I wait and get some experience. If I had know about how easy it was to apply to the LVN program I would have applied much sooner:uhoh3::uhoh3:Thanks for the support:monkeydance::nurse:
