I recently submitted my application to UAB FNP program starting May 2015. Just wondering if anyone else has applied as well?? If so, from which state do you live? I am from NE Florida. I hope to meet/network with other prospective students for this program. Though I'm excited it's an online program, I think I will miss the peer to peer banter! Fingers crossed on acceptance!
Hi, I also applied for summer 2015 (Women's Health/Adult program). I submitted my application on 10/21 and have not heard anything yet. I also applied to the Women's Health program at Loyola University Chicago. I am very nervous and hope to get in to at least one of the programs! I have applied to other programs in the past but had much less experience at the time and did not get in. I live in Central Florida as well. Good luck to everyone! Please post if you guys hear anything!!
It was a very difficult process dealing with the Nursing CAS application. It really only benefits USA because they do not have to deal with all the transcripts and calculating GPAs. I requested two official copies of my transcripts. I had one sent to the Nursing CAS and the other to me. I entered it exactly as it was on my transcript. They verified the coursework against my entries and calculated my official GPA. It took about 3 or 4 weeks for my application to be completely "verified". The supplemental application for the BSN-DNP program was very easy to complete.
It was a headache adding ALL those courses to NursingCAS. Now I'm really torn, I saw on a past USA board that it was May before acceptance letters went out for Fall 2014. If thats the case, UAB starts classes for Summer in May, how am I gonna decide between the two programs if I get into both?? GEEZ! Why do I do this to myself LOL... @canwil2082 what are you planning on doing if you get into both programs?
My chances of getting in at UAB are slim. I am a borderline candidate according to their admission criteria. I would be ecstatic to get into their program. If I got into UAB, I would just proceed with them 100%! However, I will cross that bridge when I get there. It is unfortunate that USA takes so long on their application reviews. I have reviewed both programs and I would be proud to go to either one.

What makes you think you are a borderline candidate? What is some of UABs admission criteria? I don't think I've seen the criteria anywhere.
My associates degree in nursing GPA was 3.5. However, my BSN is through Western Governors University, and they do not really have class grades. You either pass or fail. On the transcript it says all classes are considered B or 3.0 on a GPA scale. I requested to waive the GRE or MAT. Not sure how they will calculate my GPA for the waiver requirement. My recommendations are solid. I have 3 years ER experience with 4 years as a long term care manager. My essay was a little off topic. I wanted them to see the real me. I was very genuine in my essay. I did talk about my future goals. I am also finishing up my MSN in nursing education now. I should be done by April with that.
Here is the link to their admission criteria:

I bet you will get in! :-)
However, I doubt myself as well. I think my essay sucked, but everything else should be on point. I applied for the dual AG/WH program, and my 2nd choice was FNP. I'm afraid I will get accepted to my 2nd choice because I do not have any women's health experience. I honestly don't know what my GPA is, overall I think it's like 3.4 but I have 2 associates degrees, and my BSN. I have 4 years of med/surg experience.
At USA I'm applying for the AGPCNP program. (BSN-DNP) Even though I've read bad reviews on USA they have a 100% pass rate for NP boards, according to the BSN-DNP contact person....
I am so excited to have this plan in my future. I applied for the FNP at both schools. If I don't get in at UAB, I will roll my application to the Fall and hope I get in at USA for the Fall BSN DNP. I am dedicated! I will give it all I got if I get in. Only a few more weeks and we will see! I have read good and bad reviews about many schools. It is usually what you make out of it that really counts. I have heard the 100% pass rate as well for USA.
For anyone wondering, I emailed (MODERATOR EDIT OF INITIALS - PLEASE DO NOT POST NAMES/INITIALS PER TOS) (contact person for the AG/WHNP program) and asked her about the applications. She said that the office of student affairs is still organizing the applications for them (nursing faculty, I assume) to review, it will be 2 weeks before they review the applications. I was told to "feel free to touch base with the office of student affairs in 3 weeks" She also told me that she had heard the dean was letting them accept more students into the AG/WHNP program.....
This is good news! But I sure hate that its gonna be at least 3 weeks before we know anything!!!!!!!!! EEEEK

Thank you! Glad I started early! Now maybe my transcripts will hurry up and come to me so I can complete my application!
