Has anyone appied and been accepted into the RN program at DBCC? If so what was your GPA? How were your NET scores?
how was everyone's first clinical week? it wasn't as bad as i thought, even though i felt like i didn't know what i was doing and asked a bunch of stupid questions.
I didn't think it was so bad. The night before I couldn't sleep for the life of me and I fumbled around so much, I was so embarrased. The next night I felt more at ease and I swear it was because of the Payday I had before I got to the location. :wink2: I feel a little more prepared for Monday.
I felt like we were baby lambs being taken to the slaghter house!!!! No, just kidding, it was fine the hands on pt care was no problem for me. I was a little over whemed going over the chart. I felt like I was going to miss some thing that was really important for my care map. Busy weekend with studying for test #5. Study smart, not hard.
Good luck to everyone on the next test!!!!

Scraig, do students have a choice of who they want their preceptor to be?
they give you a piece of paper and you choose 1 facility off the list and your top three areas of specialty. You can write a name of who you would like your preceptor to be and they will try and get you that person if he/she is available. I know a couple people who got who they wanted. I just picked Mother/Baby and got whoever they chose. It turns out it's a clinical instructor from Peds. I didn't have her but when I met her she was super sweet! I can't wait!!!!!
I just received my letter today stating I'm in for January. I'm trying to decide if I would prefer days or nights. They don't list the times for night class so I searched class registration for second semester and it shows 330-11 for lecture and 3-11 for clinical. Is this right. Thank you in advance.

Yeah I believe those are the times. There are a few girls in here from that class and I think that the times run over. I take the day class in daytona with Ms. Lear and she is really nice!

That's right, I'm in nights and those are our hours. Tell me who they have as the instructor and I'll tell you to take night or days. That aside, I like nights. I can take my son to school in the morning and pick him up and when you get to clinicals, there are not a lot of visitors and extra people running around as your day wears on. It's just up to you.
I also received my acceptance letter yesterday and have decided to go ahead and join the forum. Maybe I just wanted to make sure I got in before I joined. I am trying to decide on days or nights and am leaning towards nights. Does anyone know what days of the week the first semester January night classes will be meeting? I imagine that the night classes have more students who are in the same boat as I am; career change, older, kids, etc. Glad to be here and the nerves are definitely starting to kick in now.
