Anyone from Baker College? Say hello!!!

Published

Just wanting to get all of the Baker College students together, just to say "hey". Much love to all of you.:redbeathe

Thankyou, and I will keep you all updated.

Hi! Baker (Clinton Twp). Second qtr pre-req's. Right now trying to get through Micro, APII, and Math 111. I confuse myself with homework between Micro and APII - I think I took on too much. Well, what doesn't kill us only makes us stronger.

I've been looking into the Davenport University program - anyone have any info on whether that would be a good transition? I'm told that after a year you can take the LPN licensing test and at least be able to work over the summer or contingent....any suggestions?

Thanks and good luck to all :)

I looked into Davenport and it seems really expensive. They do take some of the pre-reqs from Baker but they have others that we do not have. From what I heard Baker Auburn Hills has an LPN program and there has been talk on here that Baker will be getting a LPN-RN bridge program at some point.

I would spend as much free time as you can in the open labs in the Tech center once they open them, and have the assistants go over everything with you, it really helped to have someone work one on one with me.

I do not think that you have to have a perfect GPA but the most important thing is that you do not retake a class and do well on the NET. The problem with Baker (good and bad) is that if you do not get in the first time they give you an extra point to use during the next application process. So if someone had a 23.15 out of 24 points and did not get in the next time they will have 24.15 which is over the 24 total points. So you really need to set yourself up for maybe not getting in the first time because if they take 80 people and 200 apply that is 120 students that are getting 1 more point than the first time applicant.

I am applying for Fall 2009, but mentally I am shooting for Spring 2010 just because I know that who ever did not get in this spring is going to have 1 more point than I do. But really it is okay because this is not a race, and hopefully at some point I will get in either way.

Just do the best you can, I know that stressing myself out over all of this makes it harder to do well.

Hi everyone I am at Baker College of Owosso, and I hope to apply for the nursing program in the fall to start in the winter of 2010. I'm so worried about it though because I've heard so many rumors about how hard it is to get into the program, like I've heard that you have to have a 4.0gpa.

Do any of you belong to Baker College's Student Nurses Association?

Hi BCSNA,

I can only speak for myself, but I have yet to join any student nurse associations, Baker or otherwise, though I would like to, because if I am not accepted into A.H.'s practical nursing program this spring/summer, I will have to make a choice about what next to proceed with and move on. Nursing is, of course, my 1st choice, but I will not be able to wait until next year to try again if I don't get accepted. With that, I'm a bit hesitant to join anything. However, if accepted, then I will be joining applicable nursing associations. :)

Best of luck getting accepted. My wife is currently in her second term at Baker's Owosso Campus. I know she was very nervous while waiting to be accepted. I know the Owosso group has an active Student Nurses Association, but I am not sure about the other campuses.

Thanks! As you can see from some of the threads, many have been waiting and still are, but I don't formally apply until mid- to late-June. However, I'm sure I will be anxious while waiting, too, especially since there are many more applying than will get accepted. At Auburn Hills, we have the Nursing Guild, but I'm not sure if that is actually the student nursing association at our campus? I will definitely be figuring all that out once I know. Congrats to your wife! :)

I am at the Clinton Township campus. I have yet to join anything that has to do with nursing, or even buy a hoodie with the nursing program logo on it because I am afraid I will jinx myself. You can bet if I get an acceptance letter in the summer I will be running to the school to buy up anything nurse related, and signing up for everything possible...lol.

I hear you! lol. I was in A&P II the other day and one of my classmates offered to pick us up hoodies with the nursing program logo, since we're basically in our last class before we apply, but I told her that I didn't want to jinx myself and said I'll wait until I know for sure, so I thought your post was funny when I read it. :) I just cannot get too excited about joining anything or buying anything nursing-related until I know I'm in. I'll know right around the time of my 41st birthday, so I hope I get the birthday present I want...LOL

I am in the beginning stages of putting together a website for the Student Nurses Association and im looking to pull together all the campuses for it. Hopefully we will have something out soon. :-)

That would be great! I just checked out A.H.'s website, and they do have the Nursing Guild, but that includes all nursing students (LPN's), CNA's, MA's, etc. It isn't an actual student nursing group per se, but they do fundraising, have meetings, choose things to support, etc. Please post a link on here if you get your webpage together. I'm sure many of us would take advantage of it. :)
