Anyone attending or taken the Accelerated BSN at Concordia in Irvine?

Published

Just wondering if anyone has taken this 12month program? Seems like a decent alternative to Mt. St. Mary's and CSUN as this is right here in Orange County.

Commetns appreciated.

Thank you ~ very much appreciated :)

Hhalim, is there any way to challenge the Speech requirement? I took an interpersonal communications class, but also have 2 years of experience speaking in front of adults.

athena869,

interpersonal communications is acceptable for pre-requisite. our requirement for oral communication is speech class or interpersonal communications.

Hello Hhalim,

How is GPA calculated? Do you know how many pre reqs are allowed to be in progress when appling beause I will not finish microbiology until summer 2010. Also, do accepted students take the religion and bioethis courses before being accepted to the program?

Thanks for your help, but I really love your school, and it it my first nursing program choice!

Jay

Jay,

GPA is calculated by taking a combination your Bachelor degree's GPA and any other classes you took (or will take) after your BA/BS.

You are allowed a maximum 2 In Progress classes by the deadline (Fall or Spring). Once you are accepted into the Nursing Program, you will be register at CUI for 6 units Theology classes. You must completed the classes with a C or better before you can register for nursing classes. You will complete Bioethics during the last semester of nursing program.

Thanks for he prompt reply,

What courses will count towards the written communiation requirements (ie: English comp/English Language)

Jay

Jay,

Typical approved course is English Composition (College Composition). Each college has a different name for such course. Counselor will need to review official course descriptions before approval of any pre-requisites.

I was wondering if there were any religious/faith based questions asked during the interview? Also, in your experience does a student have to be religious to attend the accelerated nursing program?

Interview questions are gear toward applicants' academic and overall fit to the program. Concordia University, Irvine is a Lutheran based university. References to faith/religious will be frequently made by faculty and staffs on campus.

I was wondering if anyone can tell me about the school that has gone to it or are currently enrolled. What are the ssemesters like? A normal week? Any helpful hints... thanks

Hello hhalim,

When can we expect to hear decisions about interviews for the Spring 2011 term?
