Anyone applying to University of Memphis Loewenberg for Fall of 2011?

Published

I am applying by February 2011 to be accepted and start the the nursing program in Fall of 2011 at the University of Memphis. Is there anyone else applying for next Fall? If so, I would love to talk to you and have someone else to share the nerves with! Thanks.

@Haley: I'm glad it's only routine work. I went by the bookstore the other day and they do have all the first semester books and wil give you a box to help you get them all together.

@Stacy: thanks for the info. are we allowed to use an iPhone/iPod touch in lab/in clinicals? There are some really great apps on there I'd love to use.

@coonkine: stupid question, how did you know exactly which books to order? Did you just look in the book store? Also, what about the ones that come with a disk?? Thanks!!!

They will have the class number and section under each set of books at the bookstore. You can also look at them online as well. You just have to make sure you have your schedule with correct class and section numbers to make things easier.

This might be a silly questions, but what is everyone wearing to orientation? We have been instructed to "dress comfortably." So anyone have an idea of what they will be wearing yet? Thanks :)

I'll probably wear jeans and a U of M shirt. That is comfortable/casual me. Maybe I'll wear a big sign that says "I'm Hayley from AN!" LOL :lol2:

I went and got my books yesterday and they were SO heavy! LOL I parked in the garage right by the walkway connecting it to the bookstore and UC and I almost dropped that box 4 times! The girl at the bookstore was super helpful and helped me get everything I needed and verified that I had everything I needed. It ended up costing a little over $800, but I got my Patho and Pharm books used. Nursing school is really feeling real since I have the books sitting in my office now. Do any of you think you will unbind your books? I'm tempted to do it with at least the Med-Surg book since it's a good 1500 pages and probably weighs 5 or 6 pounds. That won't be fun to lug around campus.

All I can recall from the discussion last May 25th was to dress professionally and, ofcourse, comfortably for the orientation; It's instructed on the blue paper. Correct me if I'm wrong. I also have another maybe stupid question, is a 3" high heel considered low heels?

I could've sworn that they said comfortable for orientation and then professional while at the hospital. Maybe I'm wrong though? I may call tomorrow just to confirm because that will mean needing to shop this weekend. ;)

My hubs (who used to manage the shoe dept at Sears) said that 3" is considered low. I thought differently though, so I'm not much help. LOL

for orientation we can dress comfortably (but we are meeting our clinical instructors that day so keep that in mind). it's for the night before clinical that we have to dress professionally.

Are we supposed to bring anything with us on Thursday? I was going to bring a notebook to take any notes in. Also, I would love to say Hi to any of yall that want to- I'll seriously be in jeans, navy blue and white striped shirt and have a brown bag. I'm seriously so excited and nervous. :)

Ok- I just checked my UofM email and I had an email from one of the professors about E-value dot net and when I logged in with the credentials given me, it said I had to pay to have annual access. I know they'll likely answer it tomorrow, but this is annoying to have yet another fee on top of the extra nursing school fees. Especially when it wasn't something I expected to have. I didn't know if any of you had checked and gotten this email as well. (And yes, I verified both the name that sent it and the website before clicking the link :))

I also got the same email from my clinical instructor... I agree with ya - the extra fee sucks!

I just checked my email too and received the same email. I am glad to find that I am not the only one completely annoyed about another fee. I am guessing though that these are probably going to come up pretty often. Anyways, I am soooo excited about tomorrow! I am going to bring a pad to write on and thats about it. I will be dressed in black slacks and a black shirt...blonde hair. If any of yall see me say hi! It will be nice to meet some of you guys. See yall tomorrow! :)
